Greetings Panthers!!

I hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend! The countdown is on Panther families! We are just 5 days away from Winter Break! With only 5 days left in the 2nd marking period, we encourage you to monitor your scholar's academic progress on Skyward and if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your scholar's teacher either through Talking Points or by calling the school. The final day for grade adjustments is Friday, December 20th.

Tomorrow is picture day! Only class pictures and individual retakes will be taken. Please be sure to pre-order your pictures using the QR code provided.

On Wednesday we will have our Holiday Showcase- "A Season to Remember". There are two shows, one at 4:30pm and one at 6:30pm. Scholars are strongly encouraged to attend and perform in both shows to guarantee a quality presentation for both audiences. We are asking all families to RSVP (using the QR code) to ensure we can accommodate everyone who comes to support our scholars. Families must bring their green or red ticket for entry as well

Kona Ice will be on campus on Thursday, December 19th during recess, to help celebrate the end of the second nine weeks! Please see the flyer in this week's newsletter and Talking Points for the link to pre-pay for your child's treat and help support our wonderful PTA and all that they do for our school! The prepay site is currently open and ready for orders! Also on Thursday, Travelin' Tom's Coffee Truck will be on campus. You have the opportunity to send a sip to the hard working staff at Phillis Wheatley and gift a staff member with a premium beverage of their choice! Our goal is to ensure that all staff members have a free beverage on Thursday!

Strategies:

• Think about a time when you had a struggle and you persevered. Think about how you felt and overcame that struggle.
• Remind yourself that mistakes are okay.
• When you get a grade that you are unhappy with, ask for feedback so that you can get a better grade next time.

Reflection Questions:

• Was there a time when I could have quit something difficult, but kept trying? How did I feel?
• Think about someone who perseveres. How do they overcome obstacles?
• How can I use technology to create positive messages that inspire others to overcome obstacles?
