Early Dismissal Reminders
This is a reminder that Monday, October 28th & Thursday, October 31st are both early dismissal days for OCIS students!
All students will be dismissed at 12:10pm on both days.

Red Ribbon Week - THIS WEEK!
Red Ribbon Week will be held at OCIS this week (Oct 28 - Nov 1st). The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to raise awareness and prevent drug abuse, alcohol, tobacco, smoking, and violence. It's the longest-running and largest drug awareness program in the United States.
Students are encouraged to participate in the daily themes outlined on the flyer below.
***Please note that Thursday, Oct 31st students are permitted to wear Halloween Costumes to school. Students must follow school dress code or they will be required to change / parents will be contacted to bring a change of clothing. No masks or weapons are permitted.***
School Spirit Day - Friday, November 1st
Friday, November 1st is also our next Spirit Day of the Year! Even though it is also pajama day for Red Ribbon Week, we encourage students to incorporate red & white on that day!
Students are encourage to represent their favorite Ocean City Sport / Club / Activity or simply wear Red & White to show your school spirit! We hope to see everyone showing their school spirit!!
CAL Unified Sports 5K - Saturday, November 2nd!
The Ocean City School District, in collaboration with surrounding school districts, will be hosting their first Cape Atlantic League (CAL) Unified Sports 5K Run & Walk on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
Proceeds from the 5K benefit the CAL Unified Sports program, fostering inclusivity between our special education athletes and their peers. CLICK HERE FOR REGISTRATION INFORMATION & DETAILS.

Congratulations to the following RaiderFit Challenge winners for the month of October!
Brain Bowl Competition - St. Augustine Prep
This week our Brain Bowl students participated in an academic trivia competition, Quiz Bowl at St. Augustine Prep. This academic competition features over 25 teams and over 150 middle school students who answered questions from multiple disciplines. Questions include topics ranging from astronomy and literature to pop culture and sports heroes. Our Brain Bowl students practice their trivia knowledge after school with Ms. Weaver and are looking forward to a busy winter and spring of studying and competing. Congratulations to all!
Assembly Reschedule - Go Big BMX Air Show.
If you missed the announcement last week - We are happy to announce that the Go Big BMX Air Show has been rescheduled for Tuesday, November 26th. We are looking forward to holding this assembly in the weeks ahead!
Activities & Clubs
4th & 5th Grade Chorus
All 4th and 5th grade chorus members have rehearsal Tuesday, October 22nd from 2:30-3:20 in the chorus room.
Student Council - 8th Grade Members
Student Council applications are now available outside of Ms. Battelini's door by room 112 and Mrs. Schmid’s room 403. Students should pick up a copy if they would like to join this fun and rewarding organization!
PB&J Club - Ghost Pop Sales
This Tuesday & Wednesday, the PB&J Club will be selling "Ghost Pops" for $1.00 during 4th & 5th Grade Lunches. Proceeds will benefit a local food charity.

Boys vs. Girls Face Off - OCIS Soccer!!
Come out and cheer on your favorite team this Wednesday, October 30th when the OCIS girls face off against the OCIS boys soccer team! Game time is 2:40 at OCIS!

Mark your calendar - the PTA's Color Run Fundraiser at OCIS will be held on Wednesday, November 20th. More information to come in the upcoming days / weeks ahead!
Attendance Reminders - OCIS
To report a student absence:
- Email: OCISattendance@ocsdnj.org
- Please state student's name, grade, homeroom teacher, and reason for the absence
Please note that this email does not excuse your child from school. For the absence to be coded as an absence not counting towards truancy, a doctor's note or other proper documentation as outlined in the district attendance policy must be submitted to the main office when your child returns to school.
Tardy / Late To School
Students receive two free unexcused lates per marking period (arriving after 7:45am). Any additional unexcused late arrivals will result in a detention being issued as outlined in the OCIS student code of conduct. Students arriving with a doctors note will be marked as an excused late arrival.
