New Field is excited to embark on a journey to teach environmental responsibility and reduce our school waste that enters landfills. Our composting program begins Wednesday, September 11 with students in Grades K-4 during lunch periods.
To make this journey successful we need your help! Here are ways you can help us launch this program:
- Talk about the role composting can play in helping our environment
- Discuss what items can be composted and what must be recycled or enter landfills
- Reduce waste in student lunches brought from home
- Volunteer to help kids sort their meals in our cafeteria! K-4 lunch periods run from 11:15 - 1:45 daily. Please consider volunteering! Contact Ms. Callahan if interested: clcallahan@cps.edu

Volunteers Requested: Support with Pedestrians and Safely Crossing Streets
Unfortunately at this time New Field has no assigned crossing guards on the Clark/Morse or the Morse/Paulina intersections. According to our Office of Safety & Security, who manages all crossing guards, we expect to have a new crossing guard assigned to Morse/Clark intersections on/after September 19.
In the interim - we could greatly use community help!
Please email Mr. Alfredo Lopez, our Assistant Principal, if you are able to assist!
ADDITIONALLY - CPS is seeking Crossing Guards! Consider applying to become a crossing guard - please share with friends and neighbors!
