Topper Advisory Committee
The Los Alamos High School administration meets with an advisory group, the Topper Advisory Committee (TAC), on a regular basis to:
- Discuss issues and concerns unique to our high school community.
- Help brainstorm solutions.
The TAC is composed of any interested parents, teachers and students. Everyone is encouraged to attend, and we would like to increase attendance to ensure that everyone's voices are heard.
The TAC meets in the high school library, usually on the 2nd Monday of each month from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Sometimes there are snacks. Meetings are collaborative. Attend when you are able and lend your voice to support the administration as they support our school!
The next meeting will be Monday, September 9th, at 5:30 pm in the high school library. The agenda will include a discussion of how the new class schedule is working.

JJAB Community Celebration
Los Alamos JJAB is excited to announce its 20th Anniversary Community Celebration at Ashley Pond on September 14th, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The event will celebrate our organization's successes and community involvement. It will include free activities such as a bounce house and obstacle course, laser tag, inflatable axe throwing and 3-ball, lawn games, a DJ, and prizes. JJAB is also collaborating with other local non-profits and organizations to provide arts and crafts projects, STEAM activities, and resource tables. Celebratory cupcakes will be provided, and food and refreshments will be available to purchase. The whole community is invited to join in the fun with activities for all ages.
Twenty years ago, JJAB was established by resolutions of the Los Alamos County Council and the Los Alamos School Board to ensure that local services were available for Los Alamos youth involved in the juvenile justice system. Today, JJAB provides services that include prevention and intervention programs for all youth ages birth through 18, has over 13 part-time and full-time employees, and directly manages nine programs and provides funding for another nine.
"We are looking forward to celebrating our accomplishments from the past 20 years with the entire community," JJAB Executive Director Rachel Mohr-Richards said. "JJAB is known for its service to youth and their families and ability to collaborate with other organizations to provide needed services and programs. We hope everyone can come together to celebrate that and enjoy a day of fun, food, and music."
Los Alamos JJAB is a local 503(c) non-profit focusing on the needs of youth with an emphasis on reducing youth risk behaviors, facilitating positive youth development, and building resiliency. To learn more about our history and programs visit www.losalamosjjab.com.
