Crabapple Crossing Elementary
Principal's Newsletter
April 28, 2017
Dr. Rachel Williams, Principal
From the Assistant Principal
Dear Parents,
Mrs. Blizzard is back! She returned Wednesday, April 26. You may begin communicating information with her again through her email, blizzard@fultonschools.org. Mrs. Blizzard brings a sense of warmth and joy to our front office and we are delighted to have her back with us.
We are so excited that we’ve completed Georgia Milestones testing! Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students worked diligently, took their time, and I know their results will demonstrate the high level of teaching and learning characteristic of Crabapple Crossing Elementary. We returned to our normal schedule this past Wednesday and welcomed lunch visitors and volunteers today, Friday April 28, as all makeup testing has been completed.
We were very fortunate to have limited technical difficulties. 100% of our students tested online using our computer labs and Dell laptops. The few technical difficulties that arose were easily solved by our teachers or our AMAZING School Technology Specialist, Gandhi Satsangi.
We expect to receive 3rd and 5th grade results first. Any 3rd or 5th grade student who did not meet the criteria for promotion will be offered the opportunity to attend summer school. Several schools will combine students and summer school for our area will be held at Birmingham Falls Elementary. As an alternative option, students may also retake the necessary portion of the assessment without attending summer school. Retest days have already been set by the district. June 19 will be the retest day for ELA and June 20 will be the retest day for Math. You will be contacted directly by me to discuss options if this applies to your child.
Although we will receive results at the local school level before the end of the school year, hard copies to send home to parents will not arrive until mid to late summer. We typically send them US Mail as soon as they arrive. You may contact me directly if you have specific questions about your student’s results prior to the end of the summer. I can be reached at richardsona1@fultonschools.org. Remember, you’ll be notified directly if your child did not pass a section that is required for promotion.
Colt's Cup & Hands On
We’d like to give a huge shout out to Mr. Abel and Mr. Sylvester for organizing this year’s Colt’s Cup! It was fantastic to see our students excel athletically. What a fun event! Special thanks to the Cub Scouts and volunteers who helped beautify our campus at our Hands On CCE event. Dr. Williams even joined in on the fun and laid some mulch! Enjoy pictures from both events below. Dr. Williams and I constantly brag on the involvement and community spirit that exists at CCE. We are so fortunate to be your leaders!
Student Ambassadors to Sponsor Pennies for Patients
CCES Student Ambassadors will host their final initiative beginning May 1st – 5th with our “Pennies for Patients” campaign. Our students will be raising money to join in the fight against blood cancer with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Series. You will be receiving information on Friday of this week. Thank you in advance for helping your child understand how they are saving lives by turning in a few dollars.
