Hello North Syracuse Central School District Parents, Guardians, Teachers and Staff!

I want to start my message this week with a tremendous "THANK YOU" to our students, staff and families for helping us transition to additional in-person instruction over the past two weeks. This has been a big lift and everyone has put in countless hours to ensure that the transition was a success.

As I visited the buildings, students were happy to see friends and be in their newly energized environments. The staff welcomed students from start to finish making sure no one was left out. I witnessed students taking part in numerous activities helping them to connect with their fellow classmates.

It has been heartwarming to see the videos, pictures, signs and even some happy tears. Thank you all for your efforts!

As you know, next week is the final week in April and we will be focused on presenting next year's budget proposal to the community. If you haven't already, please mark your calendar for the May 4 public hearing on the budget and school board member election. More information will be hitting mailboxes soon in the budget District Dispatch.

In the meantime, enjoy your weekend and this wonderful sunshine!

As middle, junior and high school students arrived to school this past Monday, April 19, they were greeted with cheers, balloons, banners and some special videos made to welcome them back. Thank you to the staff who went above and beyond to ensure that all students were greeted warmly!

This week, the North Syracuse Central School District would like to recognize the entire North Syracuse Junior High School as a Shining Star School! Because a group of North Syracuse Junior High School teachers, all nominated by the same, positive, young man, were selected as this week’s Shining Stars, we decided to name the entire NSJH as a Shining Star School!

Connor Larmer is a high school freshman with a refreshingly positive outlook and an attitude of appreciation for others! Connor recently took the time to nominate five separate North Syracuse Junior High School teachers and one of his classmates for Shining Star recognition.

The Star Shop is running a pre-sale on spring t-shirts. If you are interested in purchasing one, please click here to complete the online form. To process order, please call Linda Dwyer in the Star Shop to pay by card 315 218-4150.

Due to Covid, No Visitors are Allowed in the Building. Parents, your son or daughter can pick up their t-shirts in the C-NS Star Shop during lunchtime. For staff outside of the high school, your orders will be sent through interoffice mail. Payment must be received to process order.

With next being the final week of April, the District is making preparations for May's Mental Health activities. We will be sharing calendars of activities for families to do with their children of all ages. Principals are receiving the information today and next week and it will be shared with families in next week's newsletter.

When NSCSD school buildings had to close their doors to students and staff in the Spring of 2020, the District started "Wellness Wednesdays" as a way of pulling families together in spite of COVID-19. As the 2020-2021 school year progresses, we need to connect now, more than ever, so we've gotten the "Wellness Wednesdays" band back together. The Wellness Wednesdays website will be our way of sharing resources, information and importantly YOUR thoughts, photos and artwork.

Because this school year has been so different, it has been challenging to get new photos for our District website at www.nscsd.org and other publications. So...we need your help! We would love to share your photos of at home school environments. If you're willing to share, please send your high quality images using the link below. We'll be using your photos in this newsletter and other publications throughout the school year. Additionally, high resolution, horizontal photos will be considered for the District website. If you'd like to share pictures, please email them to our Communications Officer, Laurie Cook at lcook@nscsd.org or click here to upload them.
