Counselor Corner
Welcome to our new School Counselor Jan Milligan-
I am very excited to be starting a new school year here at Mission View. We are developing a good reputation for being a top-notch school and I hope to make my own additions as your new counselor.
To introduce myself, I am Jan Milligan. I have been a classroom teacher and a counselor for TUSD. I’ve been trained in Restorative Practices. My hobbies are dancing, Pilates, reading and cooking. I’m happily married, a mother to 4 boys, and a grandmother to 8 with another one on the way! I’m passionate about helping children develop good emotional intelligence and coping skills. I want to be an effective advocate for every child here at Mission View.
As a counselor, I’ll be following the TUSD counseling pacing calendar. The Character Strong trait for August is kindness. The other topics include: an introduction into the job of a counselor, getting to know yourself and your classmates, listening skills, fundamental coping skills, I-messages and personal space as it varies in different environments.
I would love to get to know the families of our students. Please stop by anytime to chat or email me at janet.milligan@tusd1.org.
