Principal's Message
Dear Garden Road Families,
We are moving quickly towards winter break! This week, the Holiday Shop has been thrilling young shoppers with selections of gifts for family and friends! Thank you to our tireless PTA for creating this wonderful opportunity for our students! Family Fun Night provided a good time for all who attended with an ugly sweater contest, cookie decorating and yummy treats!
Spelling Bee
Classes are finishing up their classroom competitions for the classroom Spelling Bee. Two students from each class will be selected to move on to the Schoolwide Spelling Bee on January 9 at 5:30 pm in the MPR. At that competition students from grades 1-5 will compete against each other (all students competing against each other regardless of grade level.) Thank you to all of the students who studied hard for this competition!

Library Corner
This week in the library, we had the beautiful Holiday Shoppe by Gifts ‘N Things, a family-owned school fundraiser company. This company was created in 1976 by Karl and Sue Koehler, to provide fundraising programs to local schools and organizations.
Fundraising can be more than just a means to raise money – it can be an opportunity to foster a sense of community, teamwork, and responsibility from an early age. It is warmly fulfilling to see our students shop for their family and friends ❤️
Of course, fundraising initiatives within schools are an effective way to raise money for student activities. But did you know that they can also teach life skills to kids? There are many opportunities for children to learn outside the classroom and get hands-on experience that prepares them for the “real world.” Students who participate in fundraising get to practice valuable skills that will serve them as they grow into young adults and beyond.
Handling Money Teaches Financial Literacy and Integrity
Raising Money Teaches the Importance of Giving Back
School Fundraising Fosters Teamwork
Raising Funds Teaches Critical Thinking
Thank you to Nichole Mays and our amazing PTA for this fun opportunity! Now counting down to one more week to our winter break...
Regards,
Tuhina Lal
