Lines from the Library
Greetings, my name is Lisa Hardman and I am the librarian at Dike Newell. I look forward to sharing great stories and other educational activities with your child in hopes of inspiring a lifelong love of reading. Here is some information about the DNS library, feel free to email me at lhardman@rsu1.org if you have any questions.
As we have many gently used books from donations, pre-k students get to select a book to keep each week. Kindergarten students take out one book at a time and keep their books at school as they practice responsible book care. First grade students also take out one book, but are allowed to bring them home. Second grade students may check out two books.
Please encourage your child to keep his or her books in a safe location at home where pets and small children cannot accidentally harm them. Students should make sure there is nothing messy in his or her backpack that might damage their library book and that water bottles have the lid tightly on. Please remind students to turn pages with a gentle hand and to use a bookmark. Dike Newell students are young and accidents do happen, so please let me know if a library book needs some repair and I will do my best to fix it. We greatly appreciate lost or damaged books being replaced so that other students may continue to enjoy them.
Have a great school year! Please be sure to check out the library's web site at:
