The Buzz
Autumn Term -19th September 2024
Message from the Executive Headteacher
Dear Parents/Carers,
It's great to see all the children back and the new routines already established. Walking around the school, children are engaged in their learning and enjoying the challenges in the classrooms. Last week the majority of year 6 pupils attended an action packed school residential in Bude. This was a very successful visit with some pupils wanting to move there permanently! Year 5 parents should save the date of 16th October at 3.30pm for the first meeting which will launch the Bude residential for September 2025.
HPPA our new association for fundraising now is fully established and behind the scenes a lot of work is going on planning events. The first event is the ever popular sponsored walk which is tomorrow. All children should wear their PE kits to school and ensure they have a water bottle with them and perhaps a sun hat. The children will be at the field for about an hour. Thanks to HPPA for all their work and the volunteers who will help at the field tomorrow.
Each year we welcome a number of parents into school who are willing to support children on a weekly basis, in a voluntary capacity with activities such as reading and group work. To volunteer at HPP you will need to attend a volunteer information and training session. Volunteers can attend any of the sessions at either school.
🐝 Hampton Junior School - Friday 20th September at 2.15pm
🐝 Hampton Infant School and Nursery - Wednesday 25th September at 9am
🐝 Hampton Junior School - Friday 27th September at 9.15am
The school will call on volunteers with a DBS first when allocating voluntary roles. You will be required to bring your DBS into school prior to starting. If the school still needs volunteers, we will ask those without a DBS to begin the process. Please see below should this be of interest to you.
We are pleased to launch our praise postcard competition. These are always a pleasure to send and receive and I'm sure the entries for the competition will be wonderful - details below.
Finally, despite the academic year just starting we have already opened the bookings for open mornings to view the school for entry of pupils to year 3 in September 2025. These open mornings are also of interest to parents looking at Reception places at HISN. This year we are offering Saturday 19th October to enable the whole family to attend. Please book through the website.
Enjoy a relaxing weekend when it arrives.

Message from the Office
Inkpot
Will resume on Tuesday 1st October.
Absence due to sickness
Please when notifying the office of your child's illness please also inform us of the reason for absence as opposed to "unwell". It makes it difficult to code this and also to monitor illness when a child returns to school.
Secondly, if your child has vomitted or had diarrhoea they must remain at 48 hours following the last bout of illness. The office will automatically mark a child out for two days on these occasions only so you do not need to call on day 2. For other illnesses a phone call or email is required each day to keep us updated.
Secondary School visits for Year 6
Thank you to those parents who have already notified the office of visits their child will be attending over the coming weeks. Do please keep us updated of any visits your child will be attending.
A half day authorised absence will be recorded for all visits/examinations to private schools.
Flu Vaccination
A letter has been sent this week regarding annual flu vaccinations which will take place at school on the 22nd October. Please complete the attached form even if you DO NOT consent to your child receiving the vaccination.
Payments and Donations on Arbor
We are no longer using ParentPay and so all payments that used to be made through ParentPay will now need to be made through Arbor, for example the termly voluntary contribution of £10 and payments for visits and workshops. Parents can click on the link below for details of how to make payments or donations for school items.

HPPA Welcomes Classlist
HPPA are delighted to let you know that from this year we will be moving away from PTA events to a new app called Classlist, letting you quickly and easily book tickets and make payments (it even has Google & Apple Pay!) and is super easy to set up.
Please download the Classlist app using the QR code below and create an account - it’s really simple and only takes a couple of minutes. We’ll be using Classlist for all HPPA fundraisers this year so don’t miss out - our first events (including everyone’s favourite open air cinema, fireworks and sponsored walks) are coming soon!
Classlist is a community app which means you will be able to find other carers / parents in your class and the wider school community. When signing up, the app will ask for some personal data (e.g your phone number and address) but you can skip these questions - this data isn’t essential for sign up. If you have any concerns about safeguarding or being searchable then please let the PTA know on contacthppa@gmail.com and we will ensure you can still access these events.
AFC Webinars
Achieving for Children’s Mental Health Support Teams are delivering a series of webinars for parents of primary-aged children. The ‘Helping Children with …’ series of webinars will cover a range of common difficulties experienced by children and will aim to share evidence-based strategies to help parents and carers support their children with these difficulties. Below is a list of webinars on offer over the coming months.
