9.20.24 PLES Newsletter
9/20/24
Dear PLES!
Students did a fantastic job this week with our first fire drill! We are so proud of how students followed our expected behaviors and each class earned 2 bucket points as a result!
We would like to thank our wonderful PTA and those who volunteered to help make the Back to School Block Party a success! What a fun night!
Attendance: A friendly reminder that parents/guardians must report their child's absence directly to the PLES Main Office via the SafeArrival app, emailing plesattendance@avongrove.org or sending in a written note upon your child's return to school.
Looking to join our PLES team? We are currently hiring for instructional aide positions. Visit the district website for more information.
Have a great weekend!

Spotlight on Learning
Next week, students will continue taking their Exact Path assessment. This is a computer based assessment for reading and math that is given three times a year. The assessment allows us to learn more about students’ strengths and areas for growth. Following the assessment, an individualized learning path is created for each student. Students will use their learning path during the school day to practice skills specific to them. We are looking forward to seeing all that students know! For more information, check out the Exact Path Caregiver Resource page on the district website.

Boosterthon
Save the Dates: Our PLES and AGIS Fun Run fundraiser will be kicking off in just a few weeks! We are on a quest to raise $80,000 for continued funding towards expanding the Play Areas at PLES & AGIS. During the Boosterthon campaign, students will be helping their school by getting donations and embarking on the “Castle Quest” character theme. The program culminates with an exhilarating Fun Run. More information to come!

Student Resources and Supports
Hello from the Nurse’s Office in PLES!
Accidents Happen, so…
- Please have a change of clean clothes in your child’s backpack in case they do have an accident at school.
- If your child has a bathroom accident or food spill and needs new clothes, they will be lent clothes from our office. Please wash these clothes and send them back ASAP.
- If you have clothes from the nurse’s office presently, please send them in ASAP as we need them for other children.
Tis the season for viruses and colds!
- Please keep your child home if they have a fever, vomiting or diarrhea or they feel sick enough that they will not make it through the day.
- Your child needs to be fever, vomiting and diarrhea free (without medicine) for 24 hours before returning to school.
- If your child has a fever, vomits or has diarrhea during school they will need to be picked up and cannot return to school until they are free of those for 24 hours.
- Please try to have a plan in place in the event your child is sick and needs to be picked up.
