COUGAR UPDATE
November 15th, 2024
Here's what's happening...
Dear Cougar Families,
We had a wonderful Veterans Day celebration on Monday. We had so many wonderful Veterans to recognize and our students did an amazing job honoring them. Special thanks to Mrs. Wessel and our fourth and fifth grade choir for working so hard to make the morning special. A huge thank you to all of our families that came out to support the Veterans.
***PLEASE SEE THE FLYER BELOW FOR INFORMATION REGARDING A FREE CLINIC WHERE STUDENTS CAN RECEIVE MEDICAL, DENTAL AND OPTICAL SERVICES AT NO COST.

UPDATE ONE ELEMENTARY TECHNOLOGY PRACTICES
As technology continues to become more present in our student’s lives, Worthington Schools has been seeking to better understand the impacts of technology in our classrooms. All schools in Ohio are required to adopt a policy regarding cell phone use by July 2025. Superintendent Dr. Bowers recently presented student, community, and staff feedback regarding cell phone use in our schools and Worthington’s progress toward defining a cell phone policy which you can view here.
Based on this feedback, we are adjusting our technology practices at the elementary level. Students at our elementary schools have always been asked to silence cell phones and are required to keep them in their bookbags during the school day. Now, this practice will also apply to smartwatches and other wearable technology.
This change supports a more focused and distraction-free classroom environment while still allowing students to access technology for communication to and from school. We understand that many families find value in features like location tracking, and this adjustment allows for these needs to be met without interrupting the school day. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to create the best learning experience for all our students!
OFFICE FUNDRAISER
By now you should have received an email from Foertmeyer & Sons Greenhouse regarding a holiday plant sale. The proceeds of this sale go into the principals fund to be used for items that can't be purchased from the general fund or with bond money. The most recent example of use of money from this fund is the purchase of replacement House T shirts, student and staff incentives, school decorations, etc. We aren't trying to raise thousands of dollars...just a little bit of money to support some of the fun things we do. If you could share the QR code with family and friends, that would be great! Students will bring flyers home tonight. Call the office if you have questions.
COUGAR LANES GLOW BOWLING NIGHT
Again this year, Ms. Merringer is holding a Glow Bowling Night for our families to attend. It is free for families, but if you are able to give a donation that evening for our skating program, that would be awesome! In order for families to be able to get the most our of their bowling time, we need you to reserve a time. Only folks that are signed up for a time slot will be able to bowl. The original timeslots are all filled up but Mrs. Merringer opened another block since there were so many families wanting to participate. Click HERE to register your family to bowl. Remember, because there are a limited number of slots, you have to be registered for a time.
Have a great weekend!
