Lockdown Drill- Next week
Next week, we will be conducting a schoolwide Lockdown drill.
Creating a safer school climate for our students is our top priority. A critical factor in creating a safer environment is classroom response to an incident at school. In partnership with first responders, we plan and train for weather events, fire, accidents, intruders and other threats.
Lockdown means there's a possible threat inside the school. This is not business as usual. Hallways are cleared, classroom and office doors are locked, and lights are turned out. Students and staff are instructed to stay quiet and out of sight.
All of our schools can be put in secure or lockdown at the touch of a button. A message with instructions will then play over the school's intercom system.
During a real secure or lockdown, do not call or go to the school. Doing so could put you or others in danger. Do not call or text your student’s cell phone. This may put them in danger. The District will communicate with you once we have more information to share. Reliable information and updates can be viewed on the school and district webpages. If further action is needed from parents/guardians, the District will communicate instructions via the district webpage and ParentSquare.
Remember, next week is a drill. Prior to this drill, teachers will be teaching about this drill to students so they can know what to expect. Attached below is a social story that we will be showing to students to help them understand what to expect. We have attached it so you can show it to your children as well if you so choose.
Options Middle School Information
On Monday, students in 5th grade will be getting a presentation on the different options middle schools offered in BSD.
Applications for 2025-2026 Option Schools will open and be available online on Monday October 14. Students must reside within the Beaverton School District boundary or currently attend a Beaverton School on an approved Interdistrict Transfer in order to apply to an Option school.
Students may only select one Option school on their application. They should give careful consideration to their choice of school. Once an application has been submitted, no changes will be allowed. We strongly encourage online applications.
Applications must be received online or in the Learning Options office no later than Friday, December 13 at 3:00 p.m. PST.
Current 5th-7th grade students and families who are unfamiliar with the Options Application process are invited to attend an Option Fair. The Option Fair will include a presentation on the application process and the opportunity to visit tables hosted by each Option School.
Current 5th-11th grade students and families who are interested in specific Option Schools are encouraged to attend one or more Open Houses hosted at each Option School. Visit the Learning Options webpage for more information and applications, as well as a complete list of Option Fairs and Open Houses.
Conference Sign-Ups will be sent out 10/25 at 2:30pm
Parent Teacher Conferences are an important time for parents to connect with classroom teachers to receive feedback and updates on progress towards standards. We are hopeful for all parents to be able attend this important meeting. Conferences are typically scheduled for 20 minutes. We have book fair set up inside the school and teachers always enjoy meeting parents face to face. However, we are able to accomodate zoom meetings if needed. Please be on the lookout for conference sign-ups coming out via ParentSquare on 10/25 at 2:30.
Thank you!

Lost & Found is overflowing!
It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through October! Our lost and found is already overflowing! Please encourage your children to check the lost and found for missing items.
Additionally, we are in need of a few volunteers to come help us organize our lost and found. This person will help us to wash the unclaimed items a few times a year to get it ready to be donated to the Clothes for Kids program. If this is something you are interested in, please contact volunteer@satocommunity.org
