Studying the Electoral Process
Seventh-grade spent time this month learning about the process of the presidential election. Areas of focus included the history of political parties, the bias of media, and the process of the electoral college. The students then registered to vote and participated in a mock presidential election.
Social Studies Teachers Kristin Thurston and Kristine Rickert helped students understand civic participation and how the voting process works. Students also learn how ballots are tabulated in Illinois and across the United States.

Fundraiser for Veteran Honor Flight
As part of Veteran Day celebrations on Monday, students will learn about Honor Flights. The Lake County Honor Flight group celebrates American Veterans with a multi-day trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. The cost to sponsor one Veteran is $1,400. Lake County Honor Flights' next flight is scheduled for April 2025.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, students are encouraged to bring in cash donations. During lunch students will vote on which teachers they would like to see compete at the Pep Assembly on Friday. A $2.00 donation will get a student one vote, but students may make as many donations as they'd like. Making a cash donation without voting for the pep assembly is also an option. Our goal is to send a Veteran on the trip of a lifetime!
TeacherEase Report Cards
Beginning Trimester 1 of the 2024-2025 school year, all report cards for students of Daniel Wright Junior High School will be accessed through TeacherEase.
If you already have access to TeacherEase to view your child’s grades, you will not need to take any additional steps to be able to view report cards. As we get closer to report cards becoming available on the evening of November 20, we will follow up with instructions on how to access them.
If you do not currently have access or if you have questions about TeacherEase, please send a message to TeacherEaseGradebook@d103.org.
Questions about assignments or grades received should be directed to the appropriate teacher.

Leave your parent-guilt at the door -- this judgement-free night of community, education, and discussion will leave you feeling empowered to confidently navigate the ever-changing landscape of technology for your kids (and yourself!). PTO Seeks Future Leaders
Looking for a way to get involved with the PTO but unsure where to start? We're seeking strong, motivated leaders to chair two key programs—Explore the Arts Day and Grants Lead. These roles require attention to detail and a commitment to enhancing our students' classroom experience. You'll have the opportunity to learn alongside our current leaders, with the goal of taking on the role in the 2025-2026 school year. We'll provide guidance every step of the way!
