School Budget Advocacy
A number of Ross parents are interested in engaging in advocacy to reverse the DCPS budget cuts for the upcoming school year and onward. The PTA and LSAT have put together information, including talking points, to support individuals in contacting DC Councilmembers and DCPS Chancellor Ferebee.
We are also in contact with local leaders like Allister Chang, our DC State Board of Education Rep, and Meg Roggensack, the Chair of the Dupont Circle Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC). If you have questions, feel free to contact Becky Ballard, PTA VP of Community Engagement (BeckyBall@gmail.com). We will also discuss advocacy around budget cuts at our upcoming PTA General Body meeting on April 13th.

Volunteer for Ross's Annual Book Drive - May 5-7
Our annual “Mothers' and Fathers' Day Book Drive” is right around the corner, and we need YOU to volunteer to make it a success! This fundraiser is critical to fund the purchase of appropriate and updated books for our children’s classrooms and Ross’s library. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to buy books for Ross.
We will be holding this event at the following locations and dates/times this year:
Friday, May 5 – On the Ross playground, 8-9 am and 3-4 pm
Saturday, May 6 – In front of Safeway on 17th, 10 am to 4 pm
Sunday, May 7 – In front of TD Bank on P St., 9 am to 3 pm
Please click here to sign up and volunteer for a shift!
Ross students are encouraged to help at this event! They are fantastic at getting people to donate, and we have a flier just for them to distribute.
Please contact debbie.h.sundberg@gmail.com with any questions about volunteering.
What is the Mothers' & Fathers' Day Book Drive?
For this annual Ross fundraiser, participants donate $25 to purchase a book for the Ross library in honor of a loved one. The PTA sends the honoree a letter informing of the gift in his or her name and places a bookplate inscribed with the names of the donor and honoree in the book selected.
Donating a book is the perfect Mother’s or Father’s day gift or is also a wonderful way to honor a favorite teacher or a loved one for any occasion. Visit the Ross book drive link to donate now!
