CTE Innovation Center at Roper Mountain Summer Camps
The CTE Innovation Center at Roper Mountain is hosting free, half-day summer camps for rising 7th and 8th grade students. These camps give students a chance to explore exciting career pathways through hands-on rotations in five innovative labs: Aerospace Technologies, Networking/Cybersecurity, Clean Energy Technology, Emerging Automotive Research, and Automation and Robotics—each led by current CTE students. See the flyer for dates and times. Snacks will be provided during camp, and since Roper Mountain Science Center is a summer feeding site, students can also pick up lunch at the on-site food truck after camp concludes.

Parent Backpack
Parents are strongly encouraged to create a Backpack account for their children. Greenville County Schools uses Backpack to provide parents with the most recent news and information about our schools. The Backpack for Parents account also provides parents, guardians, or contacts with a central place to sign in to:
- View their student's information including demographics, attendance, classes, grades, lunch balances, and test scores
- Apply or register their student to Special Focus schools and programs (Fine Arts Center, Career Centers, etc.)
- Receive alerts and notifications regarding their students
- View their student's school and contact information
- Manage parent and contact information for their students

EVOLV
The EVOLV Detection System is used district-wide as a part of Greenville County Schools collective safety efforts. These are used primarily for weapons detection. All schools partner with the GCS Security Department as well as local law enforcement agencies. As parents you can expect that we will run EVOLV a minimum of once per week but more often we will run screens multiple times per week. These screener sessions will remain completely random and will always be unannounced. We will often conduct an EVOLV Intake which is conducted as students enter the building before school at all student entrances. During an intake students should remove their Chromebooks and carry it in separate from their backpack.
Please know that school administration maintains regular contact with GCS Security in our continued efforts to ensure school safety.
Back to School Vaccine Clinics

Attention Rising 7th Graders! TDAP Vaccines are Required
South Carolina law requires that all students entering the seventh grade receive one dose of Tdap vaccine. Below, you will find a flyer in English and Spanish to share with parents of students who have not provided a record of immunization. Students entering the seventh grade, who
have not received the Tdap vaccine by the beginning of next school year (August 2025), will not be allowed to attend school until they have received the vaccine and provided proof to the school nurse.
