A Note from the Principal:
Dear Prairie Ridge Families,
I am truly overwhelmed with gratitude for the generosity and heart of our Prairie Ridge community which has been demonstrated over the last couple of weeks! Thanks to your incredible support, our PTO-sponsored Eagle Fun Run raised over $11,000 for our school, two food drives provided much-needed donations, and our Penny War collected nearly $2,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in honor of Ariel! These contributions speak volumes about the kindness and dedication of our students, staff, and families.
Additionally, thank you for making time to meet with us during conferences this week and for providing meals as our teachers stayed late each night. Your support means the world to us! I am grateful and proud to live and work in such a caring and generous community.
With appreciation,
Carole Oliphant
Principal

Global Play Day
SO MUCH FUN! 🎉 Our Eagles soared during Global Play Day, practicing important skills like sharing, cooperation, and creative problem-solving. From building with Legos and crafting imaginative forts to playing games, digging for fossils, and even creating their own "businesses" like nail salons and hotels, our students explored, learned, and thrived through the power of play. What an amazing day of joyful learning! 🦅✨
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Please see the attached letter from the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment for information regarding immunizations at Prairie Ridge.
Sincerely,
Carole Oliphant

Eagle Fun Run Incentive Celebrations!
What a blast we’ve had celebrating our Eagle Fun Run incentives! Thanks to our amazing Prairie Ridge community and the incredible efforts of our PTO, we reached our fundraising goals and had so much fun along the way.
Students enjoyed extra recess, staff rocked their tutus, and our top fundraising classes had a fantastic time at their "Break the Rules" parties. The Root Beer Float Party was a sweet success, and our top fundraisers celebrated with a well-earned pizza party! We wrapped up the excitement with the Fun Cart raffle, bringing smiles to students across the school.
A huge thank you to our PTO for making all of this possible! Your support truly makes a difference, and we are so grateful for the joy and opportunities you bring to our school. Check out the pictures of all the fun! 🎉
Penny Wars for Make-A-Wish
In partnership with Frederick High School and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, our students enthusiastically participated in a Penny War, raising nearly $2000.00 to support Ariel’s wish! Students had a blast strategically placing silver coins in the jars of their siblings, friends and former teachers, adding to the fun and excitement. A special congratulations to Mrs. Hamblin’s 3rd grade class for finishing the week with the most "positive" money in their collection! More importantly, this amazing effort reflects the generosity and school spirit of our entire community. Every contribution made a difference—thank you to everyone who participated!
Accessibility Night
A group of high school students are hosting an event on February 21st from 4:00-6:00 at the Innovation Center to promote accessibility within the community and embrace all abilities. Here is an article to learn more about the event: Innovation Center Hosts Second Annual Accessibility Night
Safety Patrol
And a warm welcome to our Spring Safety Patrol members as they join our team and serve as student leaders February to May.
These young leaders play a vital role in helping to make our school a safe and welcoming place for everyone to learn and grow! They work hard during arrival and dismissal to help all of our students follow expectations and serve as role models promoting good citizenship.
We are very proud of them and thankful for their service!
Thank You for Supporting Our Teachers!
A huge thank you to our amazing parents and PTO for providing meals for our teachers during Parent-Teacher Conferences! Your generosity and support helped keep our staff energized during the long evenings, and we are so grateful for all you do to take care of our school community. We appreciate you!
Student Council’s Spread the Love Food Drive
Our Student Council led a successful Spread the Love Food Drive, collecting much-needed donations to support local families. Although it was a close race, congratulations to 3rd grade for collecting the most items! Thank you to everyone who contributed—your generosity is making a difference in our community! We are so grateful for our students and families for spreading kindness and showing the power of giving.
Strive for 5!
Prairie Ridge students are doing an amazing job showing up and staying committed to their learning! Our goal is for each student to have 5 or fewer absences this school year, and we are so proud of their hard work so far.
Attendance is key to student success—especially at the elementary level. Being in school every day helps children build strong learning habits, stay on track with important skills, and connect with their classmates and teachers. Even a few missed days can add up, making it harder for students to keep up and feel confident in their learning.
To celebrate those who meet our Strive for 5 goal, students with 5 or fewer absences will be recognized at the end of each trimester with a Outstanding Attendance brag tag. Those who collect all three trimester’s tags will be invited to a special celebration at the end of the year! Keep up the great work, Prairie Ridge—we love seeing you here every day!
Mystery Reader
Students in Mrs. Olsen’s 2nd grade class were thrilled to welcome Officer Dunker as their latest Mystery Reader! He shared a fantastic story, sparking excitement and curiosity among our young learners. Thank you, Officer Dunker, for taking the time to bring the joy of reading to our Eagles!
Student Recognition Assembly (K-2)
We recently celebrated K-2 students at our Student Recognition Assembly, where students were honored for their achievements in academics, SOAR expectations, improvement, kindness, art, music, and PE. Our Eagles are learning and growing every day. We are so proud of their achievements!
Soaring Singers Shine at CMEA Conference
Our Soaring Singers made history as the only elementary school choir selected to perform at the Colorado Music Educators Association (CMEA) Conference in Colorado Springs! Their outstanding performance was the result of months of dedication, as they have been rehearsing together before school once a week since September. While in Colorado Springs, they also had the special opportunity to visit the Air Force Academy planetarium. Thank you to Mrs. Keller for preparing them, to Mrs. Alexy, Mrs. Parsons, and parents for chaperoning the trip, and to all of the parents and extended family for supporting them. Congratulations to our talented and dedicated singers!
Mystery Reader Surprise!
As part of our Fun Run class prizes, Mrs. Lacefield’s class got a special Mystery Reader—a former second-grade student from her class! It was a wonderful full-circle moment as Ashton shared a story with the class. What a fun and meaningful way to celebrate reading and connections within our school community!
Robotics Tournament Success
Our robotics teams had an amazing showing at their recent tournament! The Catapulting Lobsters earned the Innovate Award for the second time this season and the Robotic Dragon Racers took home the Teamwork Champion Award, qualifying them for the state tournament in March! We are so proud of these Eagles for their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills!

All State Choir
A huge congratulations to Mack, Jaqueline, Kora, Calla, Lydia, and Ayden who were selected to perform with the All State Choir in Colorado Springs! This is an incredible achievement, and we are so proud of their hard work and dedication to their craft.
Thinking Maps in Action!
4th grade students in Mrs. Hillman’s class are using Thinking Maps to deepen their understanding of Native American tribes and the impact of new resources on their lives. By reflecting on their reading and answering questions, they are making meaningful connections and expanding their learning in a thoughtful, structured way!

Adolescent RISE with Nicholas Thompson, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Adolescent RISE is a presentation that takes a fun and informative look at the developmental period of adolescence (ages 10-25). It includes debunking myths about adolescence, understanding the four qualities of adolescence (risk taking, identity formation, social reorientation, and emotional intensity), and learning about the tweenage brain. With this foundation established, ways to better support our kids will be discussed.
