The carnival is set for May 3rd with a 10:00 am start time. We could use more volunteers to make sure all games will be in operation so check out the flyer below for more details.
With just about six weeks left in the school year, we are wrapping up State testing and finishing class projects. Thank you for making sure your child is in school each day and finishing strong.

Greetings!
The countdown is ON for our exciting Miles ELC School Carnival happening on May 3rd, from 10 am-2 pm, and we need YOUR help to bring the fun to life!
This is one of the biggest and most joyful events of the year—and it’s only possible with the energy and support of our amazing volunteers. Whether you have an hour or the whole day, we’d love to have you on board! We’re looking for help with game booths, food and drink concessions, set up, clean up, and cake walk donations. If you are unable to donate time the day of the event, we will need help prepping presale packages beforehand or with set up the day before. We will also need at least four pop-up tents to utilize during the carnival.
All volunteers will receive either a free hot dog or nachos, as well as a soda!
If you’re interested in volunteering, please reply to this email and fill out the form below.

From the Attendance Desk
We are excited to roll out our new Tardy Kiosk! This is a new district initiative created to keep our students safe and accounted for at all times. This new device will assist with tardy check-ins in the front office. As of now, this feature is for middle school students only. All middle school students will be required to carry their school ID.
When checking in, the student will scan their ID and an excused tardy slip will automatically print out that they will take to class. Students will still be required to check in with accompanied by a Parent/Guardian. The kiosk will be housed at the end of our attendance counter next to Ms. Sunshine.
If your child requires a new student ID, please see Ms. Sunshine for a replacement card (cost is $3.00). Student may also use their Student Vue app which contains their ID Barcode. It is our goal to roll out this new feature as we come back from Spring Break.
Counselor's Corner
Hello Miles Mustangs,
For the month of April, we will be learning the value of Creativity! One way to think about Creativity is “using your imagination to create something new or solve a problem.” There are many ways we can be creative! How can you find ways to be creative as a family this month? Creativity is one the many traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students be successful here at Miles. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like emotion regulation, positive self-talk, and stress-management.
Here are some family pursuits CharacterStrong offers to stimulate the creative growth for you and your child:
Get Creative with expressing your emotions through a game of emotion charades! Gather as a family and brainstorm some emotion words. Write them on slips of paper and turn them face down. Then, take turns choosing a slip of paper and acting out the emotion (assist with reading as needed). Other family members will guess the emotion that is being acted out. After each person’s turn, take a moment to talk about what we may need when experiencing these emotions.
Review Creativity as a family. Creativity is using your imagination to create something new or solve a problem. This challenge is about creating something new together. Find a large cardboard box and unleash your Creativity as you work together to create something totally new. What can the box become? Perhaps it will be a spaceship, an ice cream shop, a fairy castle, or a race car. Use any craft supplies or scraps on hand and your imagination to turn an ordinary box into a new creation!
Set aside some time to gather as a family and check in with each other. Ask each family member, “How are you feeling today?” Use the emotion check-in questions regularly to learn more and practice creativity to come up with a new question to learn more!
Emotion Check-In Questions:
Tell me more about that feeling.
Why do you think you are feeling that emotion?
What are some creative strategies we can try to feel better?
Warmly,
-Mr. Alex
Garden News
Thank you to our last garden work day volunteers, the chickens have a new swing. The turtles have a less crowded pond, plus people can walk around that space more safely. Delicious garden produce went into volunteers' mouths and into bags to take home.
Our succulent collection got a makeover, including transplanting to the pots in front of the office. Trash got disposed of properly, plants got refreshing drinks, a phone got rescued from the pond, citrus got picked, worms got fed, people learned lots, the list goes on because of the time and energy provided by all who showed up. Beautiful! Our next Garden Work Day will be Saturday, April 26th. Come share your day making Miles a brighter place.
Take care,
Anna
