The Heart of Haleiwa
December 2024
Winter Fest 2024
On December 4, 2024, Haleʻiwa Elementary hosted our much-anticipated Winter Fest school activity, and it was a wonderful success! The event featured a variety of exciting games and activities, delicious foods, and an array of unique products for sale, including plants, baked goods, herb butter, and chili pepper water. Our students and their families also had the chance to capture holiday memories with a special photo opportunity with Santa Claus.
We would like to take this moment to express our deepest gratitude to our dedicated staff and faculty. Your hard work and commitment made this event possible—from organizing and running the games and activities, to preparing the delicious foods, to setting up and breaking down the event. Your efforts truly made Winter Fest a magical experience for our school community.
Thank you all for your tireless work, and we wish you a joyful and restful holiday season!
Happy Holidays from Haleʻiwa Elementary!
Congratulations to our lucky Winter Fest raffle winners! A big mahalo to all parents who took the time to complete and return their evaluation forms. Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to improve future events.
Haleiwa Elementary School's Christmas Activity with WHIS
On December 11, 2024, Haleʻiwa Elementary School was thrilled to welcome students from Waialua High and Intermediate School (WHIS) along with a very special guest—Santa Claus! Our students had a wonderful time learning how to create beautiful Christmas reindeer ornaments, thanks to the WHIS students who guided them through the craft.
In addition to the fun activity, WHIS students generously prepared and shared delicious cookies and shaved ice with all of our students. Each class also had the chance to take festive photos with Santa Claus (a special thank you to Coach Gary for making this possible!).
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to WHIS’ Student Activities Coordinator, Michelle Cazimero, for collaborating with our Curriculum Coordinator, Pam Yamakawa, to bring this memorable experience to our students. Your efforts helped make this holiday season extra special for everyone at Haleʻiwa Elementary.
Thank you for spreading the holiday cheer!
Grade 2 Kaiaka Park Field Trip
The 2nd graders recently visited Kaiaka Park. Kumu Kuuipo had the students kilo (observe) at the park, and they sketched as they observed. Kumu also demonstrated how she makes paint dye from plants at her lo'i. The students created beautiful artwork using the paint. Click on the photo below to see a video of their experience.
Haleiwa Elementary School's Book Fair
From December 2nd to 6th, Haleʻiwa Elementary School held its annual Bookfair, offering students a chance to browse and purchase a fantastic selection of books, posters, and school supplies provided by Scholastic Book Clubs. We are thrilled to report that, thanks to the support of our school community, the Bookfair raised over $1,000! Every bit of this money will go directly toward supporting student activities at Haleʻiwa Elementary.
A huge thank you goes to our Curriculum Coordinator, Pam Yamakawa, for planning and organizing this wonderful event. We also want to express our gratitude to our dedicated Educational Assistants, Ms. Lunasco and Ms. Calaro, for their invaluable help in making the Bookfair a success.
Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event. Your contributions help make a difference for our students!
Haleiwa Elementary School's A+ Program
This Thanksgiving, Haleʻiwa Elementary School’s A+ Program graciously donated their time and creativity to make and donate beautiful centerpieces for the Thanksgiving event at the Waialua Community Association – Historic Gym. We are incredibly grateful to the A+ students and staff for their thoughtfulness and hard work.
A special thank you goes to Mrs. Dolan, Haleʻiwa Elementary School’s A+ Coordinator, for collaborating with the Waialua Community Association to make this wonderful contribution possible. Your generosity truly brightened the holiday season for the community.
Thank you for your kindness and for helping to make this Thanksgiving even more special!
Intramural Volleyball
On December 9, 2024, our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders participated in the Mililani Complex Intramural Volleyball competition, and we are incredibly proud of their performance. Not only did our students compete fiercely, but they also exemplified the values of kindness, humility, and sportsmanship, representing Haleʻiwa Elementary School with great pride.
Their hard work and dedication truly paid off, as they earned 3rd place overall in the competition—a remarkable achievement!
We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to our coaches, Mrs. Villalpando, Mrs. Calaro, and Mr. Agsalda, for their exceptional leadership and mentorship. Your guidance played a key role in helping our students succeed both on and off the court.
Congratulations to all our student athletes and coaches for this outstanding accomplishment. A job well done, Haleʻiwa Elementary!
Canefire Robotics
Congratulations to the robotics students for their impressive performances at the Crusaders and the Jr. Seariders tournaments this month. Their strong showing, excellent interviews with the judges, detailed documentation in their Engineering Notebooks, and effective communication with their teamwork alliances were truly inspiring. We're proud of their accomplishments and continued development as they prepare for their last regular season tournament on December 21 at Ewa Makai Middle School and for the State Championship in February.
