MCV4 Booster Vcaaination Requirements for 2024-2025
GA law requires all 11th graders to have a MCV4 BOOSTER once the student is 16 years old. Proof of a second meningococcal vaccination (MCV4) is required before being allowed to attend school, August 5, 2024.
The student must be 16 years old to receive the second MCV4 vaccination.
If your student turns 16 years old on or after the first day of school, August 5 2024, the MCV4 booster will be required within 30 calendar days after their 16th birthday to continue school enrollment. We strongly recommend getting the vaccination as soon as possible to avoid the summer rush.
Meningococcal disease is a serious bacterial illness that affects the brain and the spinal cord. Meningitis can cause shock, coma and death within hours of the first symptoms. To help protect your children and others from meningitis, Georgia law requires students to be vaccinated against this disease, unless the child has an exemption.
If you have any questions, please contact your healthcare provider, Eisenhower Army Medical Center, the Public Health Department (706-868-3330) or the school nurse.
Warriors Lead the Way: School Awards and Recognitions
GTHS Recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as a Military Flagship School
Earlier this week, State Superintendent of Georgia, Mr. Richard Woods, visited Grovetown High School to present us with a 2023-2024 Military Flagship School Award. Congratulations, GTHS Warriors!
Grovetown High School partners with Fort Eisenhower to have a full-time Military and Family Life Counselor to support military-connected students specifically. The MFLC, Ms. Sloan, shares information on education, parenting, and opportunities at Fort Eisenhower through social media and is available to conference with students and parents to support their needs. Additionally, the Ms. Sloan coordinates treats and an informational table during lunch to celebrate the Month of the Military Child. GTHS has an annual student-planned and led Veterans Day ceremony, where students are encouraged to invite family members or friends who serve or have served in the United States military. The school offers an Army JROTC program, which includes competitive Raider and Drill teams. The JROTC program completes community service projects, including canned food and toy drives. Additionally, the organization hosts an annual Ice Breaker Meet and Greet, inviting veterans to engage with JROTC students.

Lifesmarts Nationals In San Diego, CA
Life smarts is an organization funded and ran by the National Consumer League that strives to create a competitive environment of quiz bowl competitions throughout the United States in order to find the best of the best in consumer education. For the competition days of April 18th through the 22nd in San Diego, California, Ash Sonnier was selected as one of the staffing and official judges, as a previous competitor placing 4th in the nation back in 2022. Ash was selected as the official representative on the national leap life smarts board earlier this school year and was the official representative for Grovetown High School going into the event as the overall national representative of TSA and 4-H, two of several organizations participating in the event.
Senior Katelyn Williams received her Gold Award at the High Awards Recognition Dinner of the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia on May 5. Katelyn's project was about Animal Assisted Therapy and focused on horses.
Senior Week ended on a high note as student council members and guests completed two service projects this past weekend.
