Important Updates
Dear Davis Families,
What an incredible year! Thank you for your amazing support as we welcomed new faces and became a K-5 school this year. Our Davis Dragons embraced new challenges with AT math, band, and orchestra while creating wonderful memories at events like Family Learning Night and our Talent Show.
I'm so grateful to our PTO for making special field trips and assemblies possible - your energy at Boosterthon and Trivia Night showed what a caring community we are!
This summer, please slow down, cherish time with your children, and enjoy reading together. Watch your email for updates as we prepare for another fantastic year ahead. Report cards will be available in Home Access Center on Wed., June 4th after 9 a.m. Be sure to view and save a copy of reports cards by Thursday, June 12. HAC will roll over on June 13 which means that students' grades for this school year will no longer be accessible for families after that date.
It has been such a blessing to have the dual language learners at Davis for almost 15 years! We know that you will thrive as you transition to your neighborhood schools in '25-26. We congratulate our Davis fifth graders - middle school is lucky to get you! To all of our friends who are moving on - just remember, once a Dragon, always a Dragon!
With heartfelt thanks,
Gina Shaw - Principal Davis Elementary

Accessing YouTube During the Summer
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for being a part of D303, and we hope your student had a successful and enjoyable school year. As we transition into the summer months, we wanted to inform you that access to YouTube on district-issued Chromebooks will be temporarily disabled during the summer break for our elementary students. Restricting access to YouTube will help ensure that the technology provided to our students is used in ways that align with our educational goals. Our priority is to support safe, productive, and purposeful learning experiences on district-issued devices, even outside of the classroom.
Although YouTube will be restricted, your child will still have access to a variety of supplemental educational tools, including i-Ready and other approved digital resources. Thank you for your continued partnership in fostering a productive and enriching learning environment for our students.

5th Grade Breakfast
Thank you to our PTO for providing breakfast to celebrate our 5th graders. It has been a year full of great memories and this was a wonderful time to celebrate and enjoy the friendships we have made. Thank you to our 5th grade choir for performing, and for the many photos that families submitted - we loved them all!
Chalk Walk Art
Our 5th graders learned some chalk art techniques and decorated the sidewalks on our bus route. They created their interpretation of a book cover of one of the books they read this school year. The designs are pretty amazing. Come check them out!

Incoming 5th Grade Choir: Registration Happening in the Fall
Attention Future 5th Grade Families! Does your child like to sing? 5th grade choir is open to all D303 5th grade students! Anyone may join; there are no auditions. 5th grade students interested in learning more about vocal technique, unison and part-singing, and team building, all through a rich variety of vocal music repertoire, are encouraged to join choir! 5th grade choir will be held before school, one morning a week, and registration will begin in August. Stay tuned!
Attention 4th-Graders! Get Ready to Join the Band!
Your child is now eligible to join the 5th grade band! This past week all of the students had the opportunity to try out a couple of the band instruments. They should bring home a sheet saying which one they were most successful with and more information about band. Below you will find links and some of the information that was sent home with the instrument recommendation.
Our morning rehearsals for Davis next year are still being decided. However, this will not conflict with the 5th grade orchestra or choir rehearsals so that students can participate in all 3 ensembles, if they wish! I encourage participating in more than one. Students in multiple ensembles tend to thrive in each one.

Register for our August Class (optional, but highly recommended)! - August Class Registration
The band program pulls students once per week for a 40-minute small group lesson during the school day. These lesson times rotate each week so that the same material isn't missed from the classroom. Band students will also be committing to one morning rehearsal per week before school. These morning rehearsals are a mandatory part of the program, and parents must provide transportation to school on these mornings.
Please let me know if you have any questions! I'm looking forward to a great 5th grade band next year! I truly hope to see ALL 4th grade students give Band a try this year. I know they'll love it. If you have questions about the program, please contact your school's band director: david.basich@d303.org
News From the Nurse
MEDICAL FORMS AND MEDICATION
Dear Parents,
It’s hard to believe there are only a few weeks of school left! This is a reminder that you will need to come to school to pick up your child's medication by the last day of school which is Thursday, May 29th.
- Medications that are not picked up at the end of the year will be disposed of according to the D303 policy.
- This policy also does not allow medication to remain in the health office over the summer for reuse in the fall.
- Medication must be picked up by a parent or adult designee with the parent’s permission.
- If a Medication Self Carry/Administration form was completed, meds will be sent home with your child in their backpacks. That is only for inhalers, Epi pens and topical creams. Any pills or liquids still need to be picked up by a parent.
Looking ahead to the 2025-2026 school year, if your child requires medication or any action plans, your child will need new physician orders and action plans for the school year. Ideally have the physician date the forms following the last day of school. Forms can be found under health services on the D303 site or linked directly here:
All forms will need to be completed in full before any medications can be administered.
Kindergarten and 2nd grade students require a dental examination and form completed within 18 months prior to May 15th, 2025. A vision examination and completed State form is also required for incoming kindergarten students as well as a physical examination and a record of all immunizations.
These forms can be submitted to the main office or emailed to the school nurse. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you!
