An Extraordinary Place to Learn
A Message From Head of School Wilson
Greetings Dolphin Families!
We have almost made it through first semester. While there are only three weeks left in this semester they will be busy. Our scholars in grades K-5 will be taking the middle of the year iReady diagnostic assessments beginning Tuesday, December 3rd. This diagnostic not only gives us a true indication of our scholars growth from the beginning of the year, it serves as a predictor for our scholars in grades 3-5 with regard to performance on the GMAS, and allows us to tailor our instruction specifically meet the individualized needs of our Dolphins.
Thank you to those of you who came out to the Thanksgiving Luncheons, we appreciated your participation and were excited to host so many of our families. Special thanks to those families who made purchases from the Book Fair. A portion of the proceeds from the book fair come back to the school in scholastic bucks which allows our media specialist to make purchases to continue to enhance our school media center.
Our PTA is excited to host the annual Penguin Patch student store during the week of December 9-13. Information was sent home in your scholar's VIP folder. Should you need more information, please check your email for information from the PTA or contact your scholar's homeroom teacher.
Our winter visual and performing arts program is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10th, immediately following the PTA meeting at 5:30PM. We look forward to seeing you all there.
We will be celebrating a spirit filled 12 Days of Holiday and we are asking that our scholars participate in our themed days beginning December 5th. A schedule of themed days is below.
In true Dolphin Fashion we are excited to bring back "A December To Remember" where we ask our families to donate gift cards (no more than $25) for us to honor our staff members during a special drawing each afternoon on the last week before the break. Our Dolphin staff is second to none and we appreciate your support in allowing us to surprise them with small tokens of love during the final week before winter break. We will be accepting gift cards in the front office through Friday, December 13th. Thank you in advance for allowing us to keep with this tradition.
As the weather has become colder, we ask that you make sure your scholar is dressed warmly and appropriately for the weather. Please be sure to remind your Dolphin to bring his/her coats and hats home each day. We also ask that if your scholar has any symptoms of illness (runny nose, cough, fever, stomach aches with vomiting, etc) you keep him/her home out of an abundance of caution for the safety and health of our staff and other students. Your cooperation with this request is greatly appreciated.
The last day of school for this semester is Friday, December 20th. Please enjoy your Winter Holiday break. We look forward to seeing you back after the new year. Be sure to read over the break and most importantly, be safe! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
In Partnership,
Head of School Wilson, Proud Dolphin
Change of School Assignment
As you may already know, Fulton County Schools has selected schools who are below 95% of their allotted enrollment to become COSA schools. COSA stands for Change of Student Assignment. This is open to the families in our system who would like to elect to attend another school outside of their assigned zone. Families are able to select their top three choices and will be entered into a lottery to determine acceptance. A detailed email about this process has been shared with all families from our district's communications department. The link below will also provide more information for families considering COSA.
One Book One School December "Dragons In A Bag"
The One Book One School for the month of December reading will take place each week during homeroom as this is a chapter book. Please ask your scholars about the book.
