💻 Important Safety Message
Please talk to your children about a dangerous national social media trend involving students inserting objects into their laptops. This can cause severe damage—including the risk of the laptop catching fire. Remind your child that they are responsible for the care of their device and will be held financially accountable if it is intentionally damaged. Their safety and responsibility online matter deeply to us.

We’ve recently learned of a troubling social media trend circulating among teens across the country, where students are intentionally inserting objects into their laptops. If placed in the wrong spot, this can cause serious damage—including the risk of the device catching fire.

As always, we’re reminding students to be responsible digital citizens and to take proper care of their devices in line with the District’s Responsible Use Policy. Students will be held financially responsible if a laptop is intentionally damaged.

While the District has safeguards in place to support a safe digital learning environment, we rely on students to make smart choices and avoid participating in harmful online challenges. Please take a moment to talk with students about the potential consequences—physical, academic, and financial—of this dangerous stunt.

Let’s continue to promote the message: “If you see something, say something.” The Los Angeles Schools Anonymous Reporting (LASAR) app is available for students to report non-emergency concerns anonymously. It’s free to download on Apple and Android devices.

In a fun twist during our surprise Teacher Appreciation Week assembly, the students turned the tables and surprised their teachers by presenting them with special awards.

State Testing Continues – Week 3!
This is a continued opportunity for students to show all they have learned throughout the school year.

To help them do their best, please make sure your child is well-rested, eats a good breakfast, and is at school every day.

We are here to support every student and make this a positive and low-stress experience.

Remember, every child is on their own unique academic journey, and we are proud of each and every one of them!

Advisory class is a special time for students to learn how to make positive choices and navigate the many challenges of middle school life.

This week, our discussions will focus on knowing our limits, taking things one step at a time, and what are we thankful for. These conversations help students better understand themselves and the people around them as they grow and learn together.
