It has been a fun and busy year in the RHS Counseling Department! We love meeting with students and families to help them through any questions or concerns regarding personal/social concerns, academic development, and career/college planning.

In February, RHS counselors connected with 11th-grade students in small group sessions to talk about planning for life after high school. Some students have been considering their options for a while and have a solid plan, while others haven't begun considering it yet. Regardless of where your student stands in this process, our objective remains consistent: to provide them with the necessary information and resources to support them on this journey. Whether students are considering a four-year college, a two-year college, military service, or entering the workforce, our doors are open to assist them in taking the next step.

FAFSA

To apply for Financial Aid you will need to complete the Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA). Once you fill this out, your colleges will be in touch with your financial aid package. This will include grants, loans, and work study opportunities the college may offer. This year the FAFSA has been significantly delayed. Information is expected to be send to families by April.

Scholarships

Seniors can look for and apply to a number of different scholarships now. For links to different scholarship search tools click HERE. Seniors can log into Naviance and fill out the Senior Scholarship Survey to apply to many local Rosemount scholarships.

District 196 College Fair

About 100 colleges will be represented at the MACAC college fair

February 28th from 3:00-4:30 at Apple Valley High School

Pre-register for this event HERE

All 11th grade students take the ACT test and 10th graders will take the PreACT for free during the school day on April 23rd; there is no need to register for this date. Additional ACT test dates are available on June 8th and July 13th. You can register for one of these summer dates HERE.

Test Prep:

• Naviance - within Naviance you have access to free ACT Prep information. Students can log in, take mock exams, review subject areas that they may need to prepare for. Naviance Test Prep has an individual focus and can assist students with determining what they need to study.
