School Starts Virtually for everyone on Aug. 19.
In-person/Schoology VS. Virtual Learning Academy (VLA)/Edgenuity
How are the Virtual Learning Academy and "at-home" in-person instruction different?
The main difference between Schoology (in-person/at-home with virtual teacher support) and Edgenuity (VLA) is the pacing of lessons and how the lessons are generated. With Edgenuity (VLA), students are allowed to work individually, at their own pace while being given support through a series of tutorials, coupled with teacher support as needed.
I chose in-person learning for my high schooler. What does that look like now?
Schoology provides a way for the district to make up-to-the-minute decsions between in-person and at-home instruction. Teachers will use Schoology to teach students both in-person and virtually, providing an easier transition to at-home instruction with virtual support if that decision becomes necessary. Through Schoology, teachers and classes are able keep pace with each other while working on skills, whether they are together, virtually or in-person.
What happens when school returns to in-person instruction?
Your child and his/her classmates should be able to pick up right where they left off using Schoology. In fact, your child will be able to work from home using Schoology on days where he or she may need to (due to COVID exposure or symptoms).
Remember: Each quarter (9 weeks), parents/guardians are able to make the educational decision that works best for their child's and family's needs.
