6th Grade Lions Team Newsletter

• Mar. 7: 6:00 Family Movie Night - STUCO Fundraiser for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
• Mar. 11: End of Quarter field trip to Urban Air - details coming soon (all work due Mar. 7th)

• Mar. 13: End of 3rd Quarter
• Mar. 14 - 23: Spring Break
• Mar. 24: Classes resume, beginning of 4th Quarter

• Math: We are continuing in Unit 7 on Positive and Negative Numbers. We will test over the entire unit after spring break. The Khan goal of 60% completed Course Mastery is due Friday, March 7.
• ELA: Each week students will have a Bellwork quiz over their practice for the week. We will be continuing our Novel Study over Ghost by Jason Reynolds focusing on reading skills such as, mood and tone, figurative language, word choice, theme and more throughout the unit.
• Science/SS: In science wrapped up our Astronomy Unit and have begun Unit 5 on Earth's Surface and Structure. We will study the layers of the Earth and how plate tectonics shape Earth's crust.

Fundraiser for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

From February 5 - March 7, we will be raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The link for online donations is below. The class that raises the most money gets to take on the teachers in a staff-vs.- students sporting event, and the 2nd-place class will win a pizza party.

Family Movie Night - March 7 @ 6:00 PM

Mark your calendars for Family Movie Night on March 7 to help raise money for this event. We will have a movie, snacks, drinks, and raffle prizes! Any student who donates boxes of candy, chips, popcorn, or soda will get their whole family in for free!

LLS Spirit Week - March 3-7

See the attached flyer for spirit days. There is a suggested donation of $5 or more to our LLS fundraiser to participate, but this is not required.

Food Fight Food Drive to Benefit Ozarks Food Harvest

From now until March 13, we will be participating in the SPS Food Fight! Students may bring non-perishable food items into our donation boxes in the front lobby, or you can donate online at our Wilson’s Creek Team page.

This week students were able to participate in the Star Lab - an travel planetarium. We looked at Greek constellations, the scale of the solar system, and moon phases. It was an awesome experience, I just forgot to take a photo of Mrs. Stafford's homeroom!
