It is hard to believe this is the final week of school remaining before the end of the second quarter and the beginning of Winter break! Thank you Bulldog Nation for your continued support at home. Working together, Briarwood continues to be a community that fuels a passion for learning while educating all students to achieve their full potential. Winter Holiday Classroom Parties
I am excited to share that we will have our traditional winter classroom parties on Thursday, December 19th at 2:30. Only designated room parents and needed volunteers will be allowed to attend so we do not have overcrowding in the classrooms and we can check in all room parents in a timely manner beginning at 2:15. Reminder: All food brought in for parties must be store bought in the original packaging with ingredients listed.
Inclement Weather Procedures 2024-2025 UPDATED
Winter weather is here and we want to be sure families are as ready as possible for possible schedule changes or inclement weather cancellations. As of December 5, 2024, the Shawnee Mission School District has updated its inclement weather plans to include Plan C- which includes a 2-hour delay option. This new option aligns us with our neighboring districts in Johnson County, and will facilitate common decision-making with regard to inclement weather. Hat and Glove Drive Update
The Stay Warm Campaign for the Shawnee Mission Clothing Closet is extended to Wednesday, December 18! We are collecting new winter hats, gloves, earmuffs, and money donations (to be used to purchase hats/gloves) for girls and boys in our school district.Currently, we have collected 95 pairs of gloves and 45 hats. Our goal is to collect 125 new hats/earmuffs and 125 new pairs of gloves for a school-wide crazy hair and/or hat day on Thursday, December 19.
When you join the Briarwood PTA, you're not committing your time to volunteer or attend meetings. You’re providing a one-time donation for PTA-organized activities and programs for our students, and you’re gaining access to the school directory (hello, playdates!) while allowing us to communicate directly with you about upcoming events and initiatives. If volunteering is your thing, we’d absolutely love to have you!
