September Newsletter from Lincoln!
Lincoln Families!
The first week of come has officially come and gone! As the halls of Lincoln were filled with smiles and laughter, hopefully your child shared how excited they were to return to Lincoln. Many students were able to see our new library, classrooms, halls, and we even got our new PTA donated book vending machine set up in the new wing! More to come on that in the coming weeks from Lincoln and the PTA!
This upcoming week we will have our inaugural Full-Day Kindergarten Open House at Lincoln from 4:30-6PM on Tuesday, September 10th. This is for any parents, and interested community members, to see the newly constructed space at Lincoln!
As we look to next week, please remember to follow to procedure for arrival and dismissal. Families driving to Lincoln to pick their child up at the end of the day, must head to the correct pick up location near the parking lot. Only bussers, bikers, and students walking home because they live in the neighborhood should leave at the end of the day from Ridgewood Lane.
If you need anything, let us know!
Go Lions!

Save the Date for Full-Day Kindergarten Open House
Friendly reminder that on Tuesday, the district will be hosting Full Day Kindergarten Open House throughout the district at buildings that received newly constructed spaces. Lincoln is one of the 6 elementary schools impacted by this!
Since the district recently brought on FDK to all elementary schools, this event is to celebrate the inaugural year of FDK with this special event. Any interested families and community members can take a peek into these new spaces!
It will be from 4:30-6PM on Tuesday, September 10th.
Arrival
As noted from the 1st day, and last year at Lincoln, buses will pull up on Ridgewood for students to enter Lincoln through Doors #2 and #3.
Walkers will also enter through Doors #2 and 3.
For student drop off, families electing to drive their student(s) will pull into the re-done arrival/dismissal loop off of Farmgate and wrap around while pulling up to the end of the sidewalk to drop off/ their student(s). Parents electing to park and drop off their child will also use the student drop off location in the re-done arrival/dismissal loop off of Farmgate.
Families leaving will make a right back onto Farmgate.
Please do not park at Prince of Peace parking lot and walk your child to the school doors as it is dangerous with other families driving through the parking lot.
Thank you for your understanding!
Dismissal
For dismissal, the process will mirror arrival. Students exiting Lincoln will be lined up near where families dropped of their student(s) or parked and walked them to the drop off location. This will be the parent pick up location. As noted from before, and the 1st day of school, staff will be out their to assist
Again, families driving to Lincoln, to pick up their child should pick them up in the parent pick up location. If that involves parking, and walking to get your child, your child is not a walker and should be picked up in the parent pick up location.
Families leaving will make a right back onto Farmgate.
For students taking the bus home, biking, and walking home, they will exit the building off of Ridgewood to walk home or go onto their bus.
MAP Testing is around the corner...
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Each year, District 15 students in grades 2 through 8 participate in an academic assessment called the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP). The MAP test measures your child’s achievement in reading and math. Most students complete the MAP in less than 40 minutes. This assessment provides our staff with valuable information that helps in planning instruction and tracking student growth. Students take the MAP twice annually—once in September and again in May. For more detailed information, please visit the District Assessment Calendar on our District 15 website.
Ensuring your child is well-rested and prepared for the MAP test can positively impact their performance. To help your child practice for the MAP test, you can visit the MAP practice site at: http://bit.ly/PracticeMAPTest.
The MAP test results help school staff identify each student's reading and math skills, allowing them to tailor instruction to focus on specific areas for improvement. Additionally, the test results are used to monitor your child's academic growth over time. MAP test results from the fall and spring testing periods will be available to parents via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. These results are typically posted in October and June.
For more information about the MAP test, please contact your child’s teacher or download the MAP Parent Toolkit at https://www.nwea.org/parent-toolkit/.
Sincerely,
Lori Lopez, Ph.D.

Estimado Padre/Madre/Tutor,
Atentamente,
Lori Lopez, Ph.D.
