Friday, December 20, 2024
Happy Friday! Here is some important information from KMS:
Mid Year Check In From the KMS Principals
Dear KMS Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the winter break, we are taking a moment to reflect on the progress we've made this year at Kennett Middle School (KMS). Reaching winter break is always a milestone, and we are filled with gratitude for the incredible journey we have shared thus far this year.
For starters, we're immensely proud of our students. The best thing about KMS is our students, and it is truly inspiring to have witnessed their growth and resilience throughout this semester. They are the reason we are a 5x Pennsylvania School To Watch. The future is bright for our students! Keep up the great work.
Next, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for our dedicated teachers and staff. A lot is new at KMS this year, and their adaptability in adjusting instruction to fit our new master schedule and their commitment to true teamwork have been remarkable. Our teachers have embraced these changes because they consistently do what is best for students. KMS teachers are second to none. Thank you!
Lastly, we'd like to extend our sincerest thanks to all parents, guardians, and community members for your unwavering support of KMS. Whether through attending school events, making donations, partnering with our PTO, supporting the Kennett Education Foundation, or volunteering at After The Bell, your involvement plays a crucial role in enriching our school community. The partnership we have with our community is a treasure that not all schools experience, and we do not take it for granted.
Thank you EVERYONE for your continued effort and support. We are not a perfect school, but we are going to work with all of our might in the pursuit to become one.
As we head into winter break, we hope everyone takes this time to relax and rejuvenate. We still have a little more than half of the school year to go, and we have big goals! We look forward to returning in the new year with renewed energy and enthusiasm for the remainder of the school year.
Sincerely with Kennett PRIDE,
-The KMS Principals

Dr. Rizzo Saunders' Survey
Dr. Rizzo Saunders invites you to participate in the Kennett Consolidated School District Survey, which is designed to help deepen her understanding of our community’s needs and aspirations. This survey covers a wide range of topics, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, student support, facilities, finances, operations, and technology. In the coming weeks, we will also release a separate survey focused on communications, which will provide another opportunity for you to share your thoughts.
A Face To Get To Know Better:
Meet Ms. Yareli Lara! A proud KHS graduate, Ms. Lara has dedicated 5 years to education, including 4 years at Kennett Middle School (KMS). She is passionate about supporting the community where she grew up and uses her superpower of speaking Spanish to empower families and students, drawing inspiration from their resilience in the face of challenges. Outside of KMS, she enjoys baking sourdough bread and cookies, cuddling with her cat Penny while reading, spending quality time with her niece and nephew, Lani and Luca, and taking magical walks at Longwood Gardens. Her vibrant personality and commitment to both education and community make her a cherished part of our team. We love you, Ms. Lara!
