Principal Message
Hello Laker Families!
Welcome to November! As we enter this season of thanks, we're excited to focus on the character trait of gratitude with our students. This month, we’ll be encouraging them to recognize and appreciate the people, experiences, and things that make a positive impact on their lives. You can extend this lesson at home by talking with your child about what they’re grateful for each day or finding small ways to express appreciation as a family—whether that’s making thank-you cards, noticing the kindness of others, or even sharing a gratitude moment at dinner.
We have a packed month ahead, so it’s bound to fly by! This Wednesday and Thursday, we’ll kick things off with our APEX Fun Run, a chance for students to support our school while having fun with their friends. Then, on Friday, we’ll honor our veterans with a Veterans Day Assembly. Veterans in our community are warmly invited to join us as our honored guests.
Looking ahead, we’ll be holding Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 20-22 and the 26th. Conferences are an invaluable time to discuss your child’s progress, set goals, and build on the partnership we value so much. You’ll receive sign-up information from your child’s teacher soon. Finally, remember that Election Day is November 5th—please make your voice heard by voting! Proposition 1 is on the back of the ballot, and ballots need to be postmarked by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
To help streamline communication, we’ll be sending our Emerald Hills News on Mondays from now on. We know families get a lot of information on Fridays, so we hope our Monday update will be a helpful way to highlight key events and details for the week without the Friday overload. Thank you for all you do to support our school community! We’re grateful for each of you and look forward to a wonderful month together.
