We Need YOU!
We are looking for 2 teachers and 2 more students to join our school council. This advisory committee will meet once a month once all members have been identified. The council will be comprised of the principal, parents of students attending the school, teachers, students, and "other persons drawn from such groups or entities as municipal government, business and labor organizations, institutions of higher education, human service agencies or other interested groups, including those from school-age child care programs". The role of the school council is to assist the principal in adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards, identifying the educational needs of students attending the school, reviewing the annual school building budget, formulating a school improvement plan, and reviewing the student handbook each spring to consider changes in disciplinary policy to take effect for the following school year. The make up of the council encourages diverse perspectives in the formulation of a consensus plan. Please email gnieves@webster-schools.org if you are interested in being elected as a representative of the school council.

Senior Class
The Class of 2025 is officially declaring a Coin War! It’s time to get competitive and earn bragging rights for your grade level or staff! How it works:
- Earn points by adding pennies or dollar bills to your grade level or staff water jug.
- Subtract points from others by dropping silver coins (nickels, dimes, quarters) into your opponents’ jugs.
What’s at stake?
- If your grade level wins, you’ll earn exclusive access to the senior section and a special treat!
- If staff wins, they’ll get a dress-down day to celebrate!
Let the battle begin! Get creative, be strategic, and may the best group win! Good luck, everyone!

On Friday, May 30th at 10pm until Saturday, May 31st at 5am Bartlett High School will be hosting a Senior Overnight Party for the graduating class of 2025, followed by everyone watching the sunrise (5:14am). Competency Determination Guidelines
The Massachusetts Education Reform Law of 1993, G.L. c. 69, § 1D, requires that all students meet the Competency Determination (CD) standard in Math, ELA and Science to earn a diploma in MA. The new statute says:
DESE Language:
“By satisfactorily completing coursework that has been certified by the student’s district as showing mastery of the skills, competencies, and knowledge contained in the state academic standards and curriculum frameworks in the areas measured by the MCAS high school tests described in section one I administered in 2023, and in any additional areas determined by the board.”

Mr. Duque's Principles of Engineering Classroom
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about our Principles of Engineering (POE) students and their incredible work on their Fix Fran’s Farm project!
Back in Quarter 2, the students tackled a real-world agricultural design challenge - applying their knowledge of mechanical design, simple machines, and mechanisms to develop innovative solutions. They had the freedom to choose from three engaging tasks:
Designing a tool to extract plants without damaging the roots
Constructing a system to guide chickens into a coop and protect them from predators
Creating a way to remove and trap bugs without harming the fruit
After weeks of hard work and ingenuity, their projects were submitted to the Student-Industry Connects competition, hosted by the One8 Applied Learning Hub. This competition gave our students an incredible opportunity to showcase their creativity, problem-solving skills, and engineering expertise to real professionals in engineering and tech fields!

Grading Policy
Reminder of the Handbook Policy
Loss of Points/Credit due to absences -
5-9 unexcused absences from a class will lose 10 points from their grade in that class for that quarter.
Grade/Credit Recovery Process:
Process 1 - Students can recover those lost points in the following quarter, if and only if, they have no more than 2 unexcused absences from that class during that quarter.
Process 2 (if last quarter of the course) - Students can work to recover lost points as soon as they reach their 5th unexcused absence by attending a 1.5 hour administrative detention session (one missed class per session). Students may attend multiple sessions to recover for multiple courses if needed. Students opting for these administrative detention sessions (ADPs) must designate which course they are attending for.
10 or more unexcused absences from a class will result in an automatic attendance failure for the quarter and receive a grade of a 40 (District Minimum Grade).
Grade/Credit Recovery Process:
Students may earn credit back by attending a 1.5 hour administrative detention session (one missed class per session). Students may attend multiple sessions to recover for multiple courses if needed. Students opting for these administrative detention sessions (ADPs) must designate which course they are attending for. They must attend enough ADP sessions to bring absences below 10 at which point the 10 point deduction will be enforced as noted above.
