Winter Wonderland
Greetings Webber Elementary Parents and Students,
Well, I sure hope that the blast of Artic weather is behind us! It’s Michigan, and we’re in the middle of the winter season where bitter cold and frequent doses of snow are part of the equation. A series of snow days – even if welcomed by our children – do create a variety of challenges. Regardless, we will overcome those challenges and persevere. The lunch menu has been impacted slightly, with adjustments reflected in the version attached at the tail end of this newsletter.
Next week will mark the end of the semester and the midway point of the school year. With that, we have a half day on Friday, January 31 with dismissal occurring at 12:05 p.m. Currently, our middle of the year assessments are underway - diagnostics that measure our students’ academic growth. As educators, it very rewarding to see that progress and we look forward to sharing it with parents in the near future.
For planning purposes, there are a few student events that can demand a little bit of planning ahead. First, our Discovery Fair on March 20. It’s an opportunity for students to showcase projects, experiments, models, or artwork – many different directions can be taken! Also, we have our Talent Show in early May. Although that seems like a long way out, auditions will be taking place in March. So, if kids are suffering from cabin fever, it is worthwhile developing and practicing those routines.
Stay warm. Enjoy the weekend. Go Dragons!

Staff Recognition - Distinguished Dragon
Throughout the school year, if you would like to recognize a staff member from Webber, we encourage you to submit a Distinguished Dragon nomination. The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or a colleague by completing the form at LakeOrionSchools.org/DistinguishedDragon. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please make sure to select the appropriate school/department form so the message is routed in the proper direction.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
