Senior Meetings
Are you a Senior? Have you met with your Counselor yet? If not, schedule your meeting ASAP!
Counselors shared a video through Senior English classes on September 9th to invite Seniors to schedule their Senior Meeting!
What can you expect during your Senior Meeting?
- We will review your high school progress as well as what you need to accomplish during your Senior year.
- We will discuss your post high school plans.
- How we can help you through your senior year to accomplish you goals.

- How to request your high school transcript for military, college, and scholarships.
- We will share all the ins and out of SchoolLinks to help you with college searches as well as how to find scholarships.
FYI - Your parents are more than welcome to join you in your senior meeting. They can join either in person or virtually.
Herndon Career Center and Summit Technology Academy Tours
Summit Technology Academy
Students will have the opportunity to visit Summit Technology Academy on November 7th. Summit Technology Academy offers programs for students in the areas of Computer Science, Engineering, Human Services and Finance, Natural Resources, Arts and Communication, and Health Science. Interested students should pick up a permission slip from the Counseling Center. Permission slips will be available to pick up October 24th.
Herndon Career Center
Students will have the opportunity to visit Herndon Career Center on October 30th. Herndon Career Center offers programs in the following career clusters: Transportation and logistics, Industrial Technology, Creative Sciences and Human Services. Interested students should pick up a permission slip from the Counseling Center. Permission slips will be available to pick up October 16th.

All School Testing Day
All Schools Testing Day will be held October 17th. Testing will begin at 7:25 AM. The following is a run-down of what each grade level is doing.
- Freshmen will do YouScience (on Chromebook) in their advisory location.
- Sophomores will do preACT (on paper) in their advisory location unless they've signed up for the PSAT.
- Juniors will take a practice ACT (on Chromebook) in their advisory location unless they've signed up for ASVAB or PSAT.
- Seniors (who are in attendance) are doing the Accuplacer or ASVAB in the FH/Aux Gyms.
A regular class schedule will run for hours 5-7 for ALL students.
FAFSA Night
You are invited to join us October 17th in Bateman Hall from 6:00 - 7:00 PM to learn more about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) process. This session will provide an overview of the FAFSA and explain the steps to complete it successfully.
The FAFSA is a crucial document for students seeking financial aid for college. It determines eligibility for federal grants, loans, and work-study programs. Completing the FAFSA can open the door to valuable funding opportunities to support your education.
ACT Test Prep Course Opportunity
STA at The Missouri Innovation Campus will be hosting an ACT Test Prep Course taught by Power Prep, a Midwest-based company that has specialized in ACT preparation for 15+ years.
This class is designed for any student who wants practical and relevant information on how to increase their ACT score. Although targeted towards Juniors, all grades are welcome to participate. Juniors and Seniors who take the ACT test can greatly benefit from the strategic problem-solving techniques taught in this course.
This course is taught by Carolyn Devane, who has taught ACT classes to Kansas students for over 20 years, helps prepare students for what to expect on the ACT and provides resources, insight, and strategies for improving performance. Devane has been teaching ACT classes and helping 50,000+ students improve their scores since 1999.

SchoolLinks
Many of you may have heard of Schoolinks by now. LSR7 is utilizing the Schoolinks platform to help students and staff organize efforts toward career and college readiness endeavors. As we move forward we will all learn more about how Schoolinks will be helpful in this regard. Here is summary of some of the areas where we hope to find Schoolinks valuable to our students:
SchooLinks is a platform that helps students in grades 6-12 plan for college and careers:
College and career exploration: Students can search for colleges, apply to postsecondary options, and learn about career fields and military employment
Financial literacy: Students can compare college costs and expected financial aid
Career assessments: Students can complete career interest inventories and take planning assessments
Goal setting: Students can set goals and build a personalized portfolio
Scholarships: Students can find scholarships and track earned certificates and credentials
Internships: Students can tap into internship opportunities and develop a resume
