Lenski Weekly Update
February 14th, 2025
From the Principal's Desk
Happy Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day Weekend!
We hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start! Yesterday was a fantastic day at Lenski, as we celebrated Valentine’s Day with your incredible students.
A heartfelt thank you to all the amazing volunteers who helped make Love from Lenski so special! Our students truly enjoyed spreading kindness and well wishes.
Wishing you a joyful and relaxing weekend!
With Lenski Love,
Jessica
From the Office
Traffic Safety
A friendly reminder to our car riders and walkers:
In this time of freezing weather, we’ve seen more car riders and walkers. Allow yourselves a few extra minutes to account for the additional traffic. We’re doing our best to keep traffic moving and kids safe. PLEASE, use the crosswalks instead of darting in and out of traffic. Drop off should only be through the pick-up lines or by pulling over in designated parking spaces.
Lenski Clubs
Lenski clubs are successful because of YOU, our parent volunteers. Next year there is an opportunity to support our students by helping Mrs. Heissenbuttel run the Battle of the Books and Know Brainer clubs. She cannot do it by herself. If you are interested in shadowing the current parent volunteers, please reach out to Mrs. Heissenbuttel. Both clubs run through the middle of March.
From the Counselor
We are thrilled to welcome Jenny Beck to our Mental Health Team! She will be at Lenski three days a week for the remainder of the year and is eager to meet and connect with our students starting next week.
Mrs. Beck will be at Lenski on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and will work closely with Mrs. Baez to ensure that student needs are met with care and support.
We are excited to have her on board!
Article to Ponder
Here’s an article to ponder. The “Learning Pit” is the shape learning takes. “The high ground before the ditch, is the excitement and spark of a new idea. Immediately after comes the false belief that you understand it. Then comes the descent into realizing you don’t really understand it: falling into the pit. Over time, very gradually, you figure it out; you climb out of the pit.” The jist, which coincides beautifully with our Resilience month, is to let students experience productive struggle. “There are 3 mental states kids occupy when they are learning something new: relatively comfortable, relatively uncomfortable and panicked. Too often [we] step in a relatively uncomfortable…. It’s counterproductive. Struggle is where we learn.”
