Week Ahead
January 26th - February 1st

This Week On the Ridge
Character in Action
This week we started a Penny War Challenge to raise money to help those impacted by the California Wildfires. In only 4 days the students raised nearly two thousand dollars!!!! We will be continuing this event for next week. Thank you to all of those who donated and participated in this friendly competition.
Art Chopped
This week, Mrs. Shastany, Admin Assistant Extraordinaire, and Mrs. Hill were the celebrity judges for Art Chopped. Students compete in 3 elimination rounds in which they have to use their creativity to create impromptu art pieces around a specific theme using mystery boxes with their art "ingredients". Students need to collaborate, think critically, and use their creativity around each challenge to maximize their points and advance to the next round. The students did a great job interpreting themes such as landscapes, portraits, and animal mashups to create unique environments.
Secret Spirit Day - Anything but a Cup
This week the staff had some fun with a secret spirit day trend called "Anything but a Cup" to see if students notice. Teachers used vases, teapots, socks, and even an inflatable baby pool to catch the students' attention. The teachers were well hydrated with their creative choices.
The Great Kindness Challenge is HERE!
The Great Kindness Challenge is coming from January 27-31, 2025! This special week is all about spreading kindness and making a positive impact in our school and beyond. We encourage all students, staff, and families to get involved in a variety of fun and meaningful activities designed to inspire kindness and compassion.
Here’s a glimpse of what’s in store this year:
The Great Kindness Challenge Checklist: 50 kind acts to try to complete during the week of kindness.
Morning Meeting Slides & Activities: Here's special slides for your morning meetings, featuring kindness prompts, videos, read alouds, and fun activities to get everyone involved in the spirit of kindness.
Secret Kindness Agents: Each participating class will be assigned as a “Secret Kindness Agent,” with the mission of performing random acts of kindness throughout the week for another class – without revealing their identity!
Coin Challenge Fundraiser: The coin challenge to raise funds for California wildfires. All contributions, big or small, will help support those in need during this critical time.
Spirit Week: Get ready for themed dress-up days that will make kindness even more fun and exciting! Show your school spirit while celebrating the power of kindness.
Mix It Up Lunch: On Wednesday, we'll be encouraging students to mix up their usual lunch routines by sitting with someone new and making a new friend.
Community Kindness Tunnel: On Friday, we’ll create a “Kindness Tunnel” in which everyone can walk through and receive positive, encouraging messages from peers and staff.
We hope that everyone will join us in making this week a time to reflect on the power of kindness and to build connections within our school community. Let’s show the world how much kindness can change lives, one small act at a time!
Here's to a fantastic week of kindness, and I can’t wait to see all the wonderful ways our school will come together to make a difference!
