Summer Camp spaces still available
There is still some availability for this year's Summer Language Camp which takes place from June 10 to June 28, 2024. Groups that still have some availability are Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 4th/5th grade. 2nd/3rd grade is full for the week of June 17. This year we are also offering classes for our newest GLOBE students. We will have incoming kindergarten classes in each of the three languages. Click here to register.
Language Program - STAMP Coffee Talk
Thank you to everyone who attended last week's Coffee Talk about STAMP, presented by Mrs. Daniel, GLOBE's Director of Language Program. A video of the presentation can be viewed here.
High School Transition Survey
We invest in our GLOBE language program and believe in its success. We want to continue to support our GLOBE alumni in achieving their goals in language, as well as continue to inspire our current GLOBE students. Please take a moment to share with us your students' GLOBE experience.

LC Field Day takes place on Friday, May 3.
Download the event flyer here.
All GLOBE families are welcome to attend.

We are still looking for volunteers to help during Friday's Field Day

Author/illustrator visits GLOBE
Last week, author/illustrator Brendan Wenzel visited Kindergarten and 1st grade students.
2nd grade butterfly project
In science, the 2nd grade Spanish class learned about the life cycle of the butterfly. The project was developed for two weeks in class where the students were able to observe and document the whole process. The three butterflies that were born in class were named Manchita, Andres and Lucia. At the end of the project the butterflies were released outside at the park, which was a unique and exciting experience.
Earth Day
In celebration of Earth Day, Mrs. MJ Levine led the 2nd grade Spanish track in a read-aloud called "Miguel's Community Garden". They then planted wildflowers, squash, corn, and beans in LC's butterfly garden. They had a great time!
Community Circle
On Friday, April 26, LC held our monthly Community Circle event. Students (and staff) had a great time. Thank you to our hosts (pictured). The students who received CREST shout-outs were: Ana Ziegler, Samsundor Mridha, Bethel Hailegiorgis, Sonam Negi, and Grecia Arraguren-Torres. A video snippet from the event can be viewed here.
Afternoon 'flagpole lot' carpool pick-up
If you are approaching LC from Sundown Drive to pick-up your student(s) at the flagpole lot (zone B, green), please be mindful that the carpool wait line often extends to the left up Meadowvale Drive. If this is the case, please be sure to join the queue at the back of the line. Thank you for your support as we strive to maintain a fast, safe and efficient pick-up procedure.
Upper Campus
Uniform policy reminder
With the warmer weather, many students are wearing shorts and taking off their sweatshirts. Please be reminded of GLOBE's uniform policy in middle school: shorts must be to the fingertips, shirts must be polo or GLOBE spirit wear or solid navy, light blue, black, or white, pants and skirts are to be khaki, jeans, gray, or black. No tennis skirts. No patterns. Thank you.
Field Day 2024 at UC
It's almost time for one of the most exciting days of the year! UC Field Day takes place on Monday, May 13, for grades 4 and 5, and on Tuesday, May 14, for grades 6 and 7. Download the event flyer here.
All GLOBE families are welcome to come along and cheer on our Olympic athletes as they compete!
We need your help
Upper Campus require volunteers to help with specific games and to help the coaches overall. If you are able to help, sign up here.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found is beginning to fill up again. Please remind your students to check for lost items as we get closer to the end of the school year.
Band students participate in solo and ensemble performance
On Saturday, April 20, several GLOBE band students participated in a Solo and Ensemble Performance Evaluation at Rockdale County High School. For this event, participating students chose to play solos or to play in small groups that they led themselves.
Congratulations to our Woodwind Quintet, Evelyn Lee, Langston Starks, Owen Schwarz, Dillon Pruitt, and Max Pacheco Rocha and to the trio of Evelyn Lee, Lila Behravesh, and Jacob Burrell. Both groups earned ratings of Excellent.
Congratulations also to the following solo and ensembles on their Superior ratings.

Congratulations to all who participated!
Operations
GLOBE’s Director of Operations, Jen Parker, and Head Custodian at UC, Cleve Craddock, take a tour of one of GLOBE’s new propane powered school buses, scheduled to come into service at the start of the 2024/25 school year as part of GLOBE’s new transportation program. To view the email communication that was recently sent out, click here. Please take a moment to complete this bus transportation survey to express your interest and provide feedback.
Nutrition
The breakfast and lunch menus for May can be found on the website, here.
For further information about school meals, MyPaymentPlus, nutrition, and the USDA, visit GLOBE’s website at theglobeacademy.org/School-Lunch. If you have any questions or need help, please contact Briana Caddell.
Admissions
GLOBE is excited to welcome our new students to our community next year, however, we do understand that plans can change. Having an accurate count for the school year allows us to plan and budget appropriately and allows a student from our waiting list to fill the open spot.
If your plans to return to GLOBE have changed from “yes” to “no” between now and the start of the 2024/25 school year, please let us know by completing this form: Student Withdrawal Notification*.
*The Student Withdrawal Form requires a Google account sign-in to upload the necessary ID documents. If you do not have a Google account, please contact the Registrar to notify us.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tamiko Jones, Admissions Coordinator, via email at Admissions@theglobeacademy.net or call 404-464-7040, ext. 225.
To request student records, send an email to: Registrar@theglobeacademy.net.
Parent Teacher Community Council
Staff Appreciation Week, May 6–10
PTCC is thrilled to present a Week of Stars! We will honor our SUPERSTAR staff from May 6–10. Families, please send in fan mail (notes of appreciation) on Wednesday, May 8.
Download the flyer, here, for more information.
Used Uniform Collection Days
It’s time to drop-off your used uniforms and spirit wear. On Friday, May 3 and Friday, May 10, we will collect used uniforms during carpool. UC parents, please have your children drop uniforms in the designated bins as they enter the building. LC parents, a volunteer will collect uniforms while you move through the carpool. Please be prepared to hand your bags to the volunteer quickly, so that the carpool line can continue to flow smoothly. Download the flyer here.
Last Day of School: PTCC Spirit Night at Stars & Strikes
Come celebrate the end of the school year with us at a GLOBE Spirit Night! Join us on Wednesday, May 22, from noon until close (midnight) at Stars and Strikes (1741 Mountain Industrial Blvd).
School will be a half day (early release), so you can head to Stars & Strikes right after school or later in the evening to celebrate with other GLOBE families. Fifteen percent of sales will go back to PTCC. After paying, please give your receipt to the PTCC volunteer at the venue to be included in the total for the night. Download the flyer here.
PTCC Officers Election Update
GLOBE's Parent Teacher Community Council (PTCC) did not receive nominations for two volunteers to serve as officers for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years. Thus, we have postponed the PTCC officer elections.
If you are interested in running for the position of Co-Chair or Secretary for the PTCC, please email your name, position of interest and a summary (not to exceed 500 words) on why you would like to hold an officer position to the Executive Director, Christi Elliott-Earby and to the PTCC Co-chairs (ptccofficers.globeacademy@gmail.com). Please detail your past experience at GLOBE or other school leadership or volunteer positions. Candidates will be evaluated based on why they are interested and prior parent involvement/volunteer experience. If you have any questions, feel free to email PTCC Officers.
“Volunteer of the Month” Carpool Winners!
Congratulations to our volunteers of the month, Cristina Bernal and Katie Hunt. We hope you enjoy using the “Volunteer of the Month” carpool flag to skip the line this month of May. Special shout-out to Florence Cannon for her volunteerism as well. Be sure to log your volunteer hours for a chance to win next month!
The 2024 PTCC Annual GLOBE Auction
There are a few items left in the Fire Sale, and you can still donate to the Fund-a-Project by visiting the Auction website.
Order from Minted
Do you have a high school graduate this spring? If you're ordering announcements, consider ordering from Minted, and use our promo code. You'll get 20% off your purchase price, and GLOBE PTCC will get a 15% donation. It's a WIN-WIN! When placing an order, simply enter FUNDRAISEGLOBE in the promo code box at checkout.
Lost and Found: Please label your items
Parent volunteers return labeled items to the owner's classroom. If your items are not labeled, they may never make it back home. Please take a moment to find a labeling solution that will work for you. Here are some ideas to get you started: Avery No-Iron Kids Clothing Labels, Sharpie Fabric Marker, and Mabel's Labels (customizable labels and stamps, dishwasher and laundry safe. Enter "The GLOBE Academy" in the "support a fundraiser" field, and they'll donate 20% back to GLOBE!).
Volunteer hours can help GLOBE receive grants
Did you know that when you volunteer, it can help GLOBE receive grants? Some donors want to know how involved the community is. We can show them that parents are invested in the school by sharing the volunteer hours we have tracked. So please remember to log your hours here. When you log your time, you'll also be entered in our drawing for a volunteer-of-the-month carpool flag. As a reminder, each family is requested to volunteer ten hours each year. To see current volunteer opportunities, click here. Thank you for volunteering at GLOBE.
Shopping can help GLOBE!
Did you know when you shop at places like Publix, Kroger, and OfficeMax/Office Depot, they will donate to GLOBE PTCC? To find out how to easily set this up, click here. Every penny counts!

Thanks so much to everyone who kindly donated at the auction to make this memorable event possible.
