IMPROVING SECURITY AND EFFICIENCY TO PAY FOR MEALS IN THE FOOD COURT!
A new payment method for the cafeteria is being introduced at the high school this year after a successful implementation at Robertsville and Jefferson Middle Schools last year. Students will purchase lunch by scanning their fingerprint rather than ID badges. This new technology will improve the accuracy, speed and cost effectiveness of this daily process.
It is important to understand, the technology DOES NOT store the student’s fingerprint. A full explanation regarding the process is included in the online permission form.
Rising freshman who did this last year, do not have to complete this registration again. Please log into the parent Skyward account so we can accomplish this task along side issuing our laptop computers the first week of school.
Thank you
LAPTOP DISTRIBUTION PLAN 2020
Laptop distribution will take place Wednesday (A - E), Thursday (F - N), and Friday (O - Z). Students who do not have their AccessOR Technology Agreement electronically signed by a parent in Skyward will be unable to retrieve their computer during Week 1.

ARE YOU MISSING OAK RIDGE COMMUNICATIONS??
1. Check your "spam" or "junk" folders. If emails are not opened from certain addresses, Google, Yahoo or other providers, use artificial intelligence to reroute those items to junk, spam or promotion folders. Highlight the email and "move" it to your inbox to retrain the provider on where you want emails from the district to go.
2. Secondly, it may be necessary to update your current email address in Skyward. Parents may send an email to Mrs. Rhinehart cmrhinehart@ortn.edu to have the email address updated immediately.
3. Finally, just as an FYI - ORHS monitors emails that are "kicked" back and routinely make attempts to contact families to update addresses.
WOULD YOU PREFER A TEXT MESSAGE RATHER THAN A PHONE CALL FROM ORHS???

Masquers Students Sorta' Shakespeare Camp:
The show must go on! ORHS Masquers drama club students have delved and delighted in Shakespeare this summer at their week long zoom day camp! In the morning and early afternoon, students learned about scansion (look it up, it's cooler than you're thinking) and how to analyze Shakespeare texts. Late afternoons students rehearsed their own Shakespeare scenes. Evenings were spent comparing and discussing performances of scenes from different Shakespeare productions with our beloved Ben Fowler. On the last evening of camp students held a live zoom performance for the community. The coolest thing? Even though it was on zoom, it felt like a real camp!

OFF CAMPUS LUNCH FOR JUNIORS & SENIORS
Due to COVID, the area churches who have been so faithful to feed our Juniors and Seniors will be unable to do this during the pandemic. Once it is safe to do so, they are committed to bringing this service back to our kids. We are so thankful for the MANY, MANY years in which they have served thousands of meals to thousands of kids!
Sophomores and Freshman who may make a choice to skip and go off-campus at lunch time have harsh penalties for doing so.
THANK YOU, OAK RIDGE BOJANGLES!
