Spotlight Talent Show
PBIS Grade Check
This month the Flagler County Youth Center continued its efforts to promote positive behavior in and out of the classroom. On Tuesday April 23rd, the Youth Center held its seventh grade check for the year. Those who had all A’s on their progress report would receive pizza, chips, and a drink. Those who had A’s and B’s would gain the choice of two of these options. We hope our students keep working hard to better their grades and themselves.
Zaxby's & Krispy Kreme Giveaway
On Wednesday April 17th, the Youth Center held a Zaxby's Giveaway. Students who attended the Youth Center after school would receive free chicken tenders, soda, cookies, and their choice of chips or fries. Thank you to all the students who arrived on time to the Youth Center. A special thank you to Zaxbys for donating and sponsoring this event!
We also held a Krispy Kreme Donut giveaway during the month of April! All students that arrived on time received a donut after they entered. Thank you Krispy Kreme for giving us a great deal!
NBA 2K Tournament
The Flagler County Youth Center NBA 2k Tournament sponsored by the programs Student Advisory Council was a great success. On Wednesday April 18th, students battled it out in a single elimination tournament to be declared the winner. Ultimately, it would come down to two students Michael Flemmings and Mekhi Jones . In the end, Michael Flemmings would emerge victorious, earning a $20 WAWA Gift Card. As our runner-up, Mekhi Jones would also receive an award of a $10 WAWA Gift Card. Thank you to everyone who participated!

2024 Summer Camp
G.W. Carver Center Operations
Currently the G.W. Carver Center is open daily Monday - Friday with special events on Saturday. The Carver Center hosts the Road to Success Program Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 1:00pm and Open Gym from 2:00pm - 6:00pm.
Community Assistant Program: On Wednesdays, The G.W. Carver Center provides a community assistance program. Every other Wednesday, we have Flagler Cares, who provides services on Screening & Referral, Care Coordination, Benefit Assistance & Navigation, SOAR, Housing Assistance, ID Assist, Behavioral Health Programs, and Health Marketplace Navigation. With our Community Assistance Program, we aim to be a better resource for those in this community. Community Assistance will be available every Wednesday, with a visit from Flagler Cares every other Wednesday. In the month of March, we had over 15 families come out and receive services, with expectations of growth for the month of May. Flagler Cares Dates: May 8th and May 22nd.
Senior Social Hour: Senior Social Hour is hosted every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm. For the month of April, we had a visit from Seniors Vs Crime, and each senior received a copy of "Savvy Consumers Can Stop Fraud." A special thanks to the Office of the Attorney General. Senior Social Hour Dates: May 2nd, 7th, 9th, 14th, 16th, 21st, 24th, 28th, 30th.
Student Advisory Council: The meeting for this month took place on April 10, 2024, at 4:00 pm at G.W. Carver Center. The next and final meeting will be held in May 2024 at the Carver Community Center.

Road to Success Update
The Road to Success (RTS) program has reached 367 GEDs to date, with 7 students graduating in April. We have a 98% positive outcome since the beginning of the program. This month, Daytona State College spoke to the students about their academic and technical programs. Additionally, another section of our student success class (based upon entrepreneurs), which is funded through CareerSource, began April 10th. This is an 8-week course and ends with the students being interviewed on the Flagler Health Matters radio show.
