Believe it or not we are entering the final few weeks of Summer! We hope everyone is able to enjoy the next weeks before returning to LVMS for another great school year.


This is a special August Edition of the Monday Minute. Once the school year starts, the Monday Minute is sent each week to provide our students, families, and staff with all necessary information about LVMS. This information will also now be updated through our Website and Mobile App to provide additional communication. In late August, look for our Back to School Edition which will include information about Parent Drop Off / Pick Up, Student Handbooks, Schedules, etc.


Please read carefully below as there is important information for 6th Grade Students, deadlines for Fall Sports Paperwork, and a brief look at what the start of the school year will look like. Our LVMS School Calendar is already beginning to fill up so please take note of important dates listed below!

Summer Highlights

Washington Township School has launched our NEW District Website and Mobile App! (additional information below!)


In the upcoming weeks, the district will move its communication and alert system to ThrillShare. Families do not need to do anything additional at this time, but may receive automated notifications from ThrillShare regarding their enrollment in the system. This is expected and not SPAM or Fraudulent. If you need to update any contact information, please contact the LVMS Main Office as soon as possible.

Reminders

SUMMER HOURS OF OPERATION: LVMS is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM. If you need to come to the building, we suggest contacting the main office first at 908-876-3434


6TH GRADE PARENT ORIENTATION INFO: Don't forget to visit our 6th Grade Orientation Website that contains important information from our Parent Orientation that was held June 2nd.


AUGUST LVMS COMMUNITY UPDATE: Please see the notice posted to our district website and app from Mr. Ippolito regarding the LVMS Math Program.


STUDENT SCHEDULE NOTIFICATION: By the end of August, please be on the look out for a letter sent via USPS containing your students' team placement and homeroom. Notification will also be made when OnCourse becomes available for families to view.


STUDENT BUILDING VISITS: Wed. August 24th and Fri. August 26th are Grade 6-8 Building Visits. See below for more information!

WTS New Website and App!

**Be sure to scroll through the LVMS Section of the App to get a look at our "Live Feed". We have been highlighting some great events from this past school year already. We hope to continue to utilize the new App during the 2022-23 school year to increase our communication with our families, highlight all of the different events, and most importantly, showcase our great students and staff!**


IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO, PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE WTSCHOOLS MOBILE APP! THIS WILL BE A MAIN METHOD OF COMMUNICATING IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO LVMS FAMILIES THIS YEAR!

Student Supplies

This year LVMS will make every effort to be as paper-free as possible and heavily rely on our 1:1 Chromebook Initiative for student learning. The goal is for student Chromebooks to be the main supply used throughout the school year. Because of this, we have NO standard or official supply lists for students. We encourage students to come to school on September 1st with something to write with. In the first week of classes, some teachers may notify the students of additional resources needed but these items will be fairly limited, and be what we consider the "basics" (a notebook, folder, pen or pencil, etc.)

Grades 6 - 8 STUDENT BUILDING VISITATION

LVMS will be open to all students on WEDNEDSAY, AUGUST 24th and FRIDAY, AUGUST 26th for student walk-throughs. This will be an opportunity for students to come to the building and see where their homerooms are located prior to the first day.

WHERE: Long Valley Middle School


WHO: All LVMS Students (Grades 6-8)


Please be aware, there are NO guided tours or events scheduled for this day. It is an "open house" style event for students to get a chance to visit the building.

Medical Documentation / Requirements

The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) under Chapter 14 N.J.A.C. 8:57-4 mandates the following two vaccines:


  • Tdap Vaccine
  • Meningococcal Vaccine

6th Grade Summer Walk-Through & Scavenger Hunt

When: Tuesday, August 16th

Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Where: LVMS

Who: Incoming 6th Grade Students

Info: All incoming 6th graders are invited to join us for a summer Walk-Through and Scavenger Hunt! Students will get to meet counselors, administrators, and experience what LVMS is like.

**Please be aware, this is a student orientation event that is in addition to what was already covered with parents in June 2022. This has been designed to get students into the building to feel welcome and adjusted to LVMS**


If you plan to attend, please RSVP by Friday, August 12th!

Customized Notepad Fundraiser $10
Stop using scrap paper or the back of receipts to write notes. Order a personalized notepad with your family name and students' names to use to write excuse notes for your student(s). Use for parent pickup, doctor's appointments, walking off property after school. Order Now! Pads will be available for pick up in late August for the start of school.
