Maize Middle School

A Message From Mr. Cramer
Hey MMS Eagle Families!
It is hard to believe but we are in the final weeks of our 3rd nine weeks and headed down the home stretch in the 24/25 MMS Story. Thank you for your continued partnerships and I am looking forward to a strong finish.
Attendance: Regular school attendance is one of the most important factors leading to a successful academic and social experience. As a reminder, any time your student is absent for an appointment please establish the routine of submitting a note to school so attendance can be coded correctly. Per district policy any absence over seven will require documentation in addition to parent communication.
After School Pick Up: In order to maintain a safe environment for students please exercise patience and follow parking lot markings when picking up students in the afternoons.. Please work together as adults to best support our students in this. In addition students should exit school grounds promptly. Bus departure is no later than ten minutes following dismissal. If your student is eligible to ride a bus and chooses to be a car rider please have them picked up by then or plan to have them ride the bus. In addition, students that are walkers/bike riders should exit right at dismissal and no later than 10 minutes following dismissal. This allows us to provide proper supervision of our students during dismissal and helps us keep them safe. Thank you for your help in this matter.
Spring TEST FEST:. Mark your calendars for the first ever MMS Spring Test Fest. We will conduct all of our spring state assessments in ELA, Math, and Science the week of April 14-18. We utilize state assessments to measure our progress and make important instructional decisions including class placement. This year we are conducting a week of testing with school spirit, mindfulness/motivation activities, and other opportunities to showcase our skills. More details to come but we NEED all families to prioritize this week by ensuring students are here everyday and supporting them in encouraging their best effort!
Boys tennis and track will start soon. In addition, we have had multiple concerts and more to come. Our band, orchestra, and choir students recently performed at WSL festivals and made us proud.
We have had a great first 75% of the year and are looking forward to a strong finish. As I have reminded students and staff if we do not tell our story someone else will and they will leave out all of the good stuff! We also invite all of you to be part of telling our story. If you have questions, concerns, suggestions, or affirmations please share with us.
Sincerely,
Chad Cramer

Happy March, Maize Middle School Families!
We are beginning to plan for next year while wrapping up all academic needs and plans. If you have a 7th or 8th-grade student with a current 504 plan, please be on the lookout for a letter in the mail. This letter will include the date and time for an in-person meeting where we will review the plan and ensure it meets your student’s needs for the upcoming school year.
Your presence and input are valuable, and we appreciate your participation in these meetings!
Thank you and look forward to seeing you soon.

Maize Middle School PTO
It’s hard to believe we’re rounding out the school year! PTO still has some wonderful volunteer opportunities ahead.
We had a very successful fundraiser in the fall—students raised just over $10,000 for teachers, classroom projects, and supplies. We’ve had a great time celebrating these awesome fundraisers and delivering these items to our staff members! Most recently, we treated the $100 fundraisers to a field trip to Carousel Skate. We’ll wrap up our final fundraiser celebration with a school-wide fun event on April 16th that every student will enjoy, featuring activities, inflatables, games, and more!
There are two volunteer opportunities remaining this year:
Staff Appreciation (May 5th–9th): PTO is partnering with MMS StuCo to celebrate our amazing staff. We’d love to have parent volunteers help treat our staff throughout the week.
8th Grade Send-Off (May 22nd): It’s a tradition to send our 8th graders off in style with a fun, luau-themed breakfast on their last day of middle school. PTO will feed around 300 students and will need parent help with décor, setup, food donations, serving, and cleanup. We’d love help from both 7th and 8th grade parents for this event. More details and sign up to come.
Join us for our next meeting on Wednesday, March 12th at 5:30 pm in the MMS Office Conference Room or reach out to maizemiddlepto@gmail.com if you can’t attend—we’d be happy to update you on ways to get involved!

Hello Maize Families!
As we flip the calendar to a new month, hopefully we will be seeing warmer weather and a lot more sunshine! Along with that, come allergy and asthma flare ups. Just a friendly reminder that if your student has an emergency inhaler, please be sure we have Dr orders on file! Students are only allowed to carry their emergency inhaler if they have a Dr order to do so. Also, be sure that it is labeled with your student's name! If the inhaler is lost, I am not able to return it, unless it has a name on it! This is for everyone's safety.
As always, please contact me if there is anything that I can do to help your student be healthy and happy here at school!

The 8th grade ELA students have been studying the Holocaust and had the opportunity to participate in a virtual reality tour. This immersive experience has proven to be a powerful and meaningful way to teach about the Holocaust, while also sharing Eva Kor’s inspiring messages of forgiveness, healing, empathy, and moral courage.
