Charger Chatter
Week of 8/11/24: Clear Springs High School
Happy 1st Week of School!
Good evening Charger Families,
We are so excited that you are joining Clear Springs High School for the 2024-25 school year! Please know that over 2700 students will be arriving on campus. For those of you who choose to drive your child to school, there will be LOTS of cars/traffic the first few weeks while student drivers and new drivers learn the drop off route. Please pack your patience in the car with you. The doors open at 6:45 am for students.I recommend leaving the house by 6:30am (and by 6:00am if you are making a coffee/food stop beforehand). :)
Students should check their schedule in Skyward to know where to report 1st period. There will be many adults helping students throughout the week to locate classes. I recommend bringing a lunch the first few days whle students figure out lunchtime. The high school cafeteria offers a lot more options than intermediate does. Our first day goal is that every chld arrives, eats lunch, locates his/her classes, and remembers the right bus to board at dismissal. :) We will help them through it all. We know the transitiion is exciting and a bit overwhelming for new students and we build in time to help them. This is a year of growth for you and your Charger - and there's no better place to be than at Clear Springs High School.
Tuesday August 13: Transition Day (9th grade ONLY)
Freshmen students will arrive to school and report to first period by 7:20am. Be sure you know how to access your schedule on Skyward. There will be plenty of staff available to welcome you and help you navigate the building. Students will receive their IDs in first period. Transition day will help you learn your classes and understand what it means to be a Clear Springs High School Charger! Students will be released at 2:35pm and busses will run as scheduled.
Wednesday August 14: ALL Students
All students will report to first period by 7:20am. Be sure you know how to access your schedule on Skyward. Schedules may have changed between August 8 and the first day of school. Students who need to pick up an ID should report to the cafeteria before school. Students will be released at 2:35pm and busses will run as scheduled.
Wednesday August 14: Dual Credit Students
If you have dual credit classes in the morning, 1st/2nd period, you will report to campus 2nd period. Important information about dual credit classes, transportation, and dual credit stickers for your ID will be provided. If you have dual credit classes in the afternoon, information and dual credit stickers will be available at the Counselor Corner during Lightning Lunch.
Note: Students who are absent on the first day of school will have their schedules dropped and must see the registrar to re-enroll. Re-enrollment will not guarantee that your schedule stays the same.

2024-2025 Cellphone and Earbud/ Headphone Policy:
As we look forward to the start of the 2024 – 2025 school year, CSHS is aligning our campus electronics policy impacting cellphones and earbuds/headphones with other CCISD high schools.
Cell phones and headphones continue to be a major distraction during the instructional period for students. While current district policy allows students to bring their cell phones to school, students at Clear Springs High School are required to put their phones and earbuds/headphones on silent and in a designated area when entering classrooms. Students are not allowed to have cell phones or earbuds/headphones out or in their pockets during instructional periods. Exceptions will be made with a medical note from a doctor and communication with the school nurse.
Chargers are expected to model Core Values at all times. By placing cell phones out of sight, our Chargers can stay actively engaged in their own learning and are demonstrating Responsibility and Respect.
For students who choose not to meet these expectations or who continue to have difficulty avoiding distraction the following consequences will occur and will start over every nine week period:
1st offense: Verbal Warning
2nd offense: Teacher will confiscate cellphone/earbuds/headphones and return at the end of the class period.
3rd offense: Phone turned into front office, $15 fee given and a parent or guardian must pick up the phone. Referral submitted to student's Assistant Principal. The district is not responsible for damaged, lost or stolen equipment or devices per board policy found on page 64 in the CCISD Student Handbook.
Cell phone use in locker rooms and bathrooms is specifically prohibited, as is filming/photographing others without their consent. Failure to meet these expectations will be considered digital citizenship violations and may incur disciplinary consequences for bullying or harassment up to and including placement at DAEP or expulsion.
Please have a conversation with your student(s) to prepare them for when they come back to campus. Remember students will have access to their devices before school, during passing periods, lunch, and after school for necessary communication.
CTE Travel
Students in a CTE Specialty off campus course will travel on the first day of school August 14th. An email with travel guidelines and a required form has been emailed to students enrolled in a CTE Specialty off campus course. Students riding the bus to CVHS for Welding, Cosmetology or Certified Nursing will receive additional information by email with the bus route #, times and pick up location prior to the first day of school.
Email Lsmith@ccisd.net if you have any questions regarding an off-campus travel.
Student Schedules
Students had an opportunity to pick up their draft schedule on Thursday, August 8, 2024. If you were not able to pick-up yours, it is ok because you will be able to see it under the Schedule Tab in Skyward on Monday, August 12th at 5:00PM.
Counselors are currently working to resolve any existing scheduling issues. If you see a problem with your schedule, do not worry. There will be time during the first five days of school to resolve the issue with your counselor.
If you need an issue resolved, please complete a SCHEDULE CHANGE FORM and email it to your counselor as listed on the bottom of the form. The last day to turn in a schedule change request is Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
Change requests will be considered on a first come, first served basis with priority for the following reasons:
- Senior not scheduled in a course needed for graduation.
- Already earned credit in a class listed on schedule.
- Do not have prerequisite for a class listed on schedule.
- Previously failed the same course under the same teacher.
- No longer in a program (Athletics, Fine Arts, PALS, etc…).
- Data entry error (class listed twice, free period, etc).
Please keep in mind, courses needed for your Endorsement may not be dropped. Requests for level down/up may be honored before the first day of school using the schedule change form. Later requests will only be honored at the 3rd and 9th week of school per CCISD Level Down Policy. There will be a separate form available at that time.
Schedule fixes are happening in real time so please check your schedule often as changes are likely to occur. Your final schedule is the one that is available for viewing in Skyward on the first day of school.
