School News - Stay in the Know
๐ Battling the Ant Invasion
We have been dealing with some pesky ant infestations in a few classrooms recently. Ants have made their way into our students' backpacks and lunch bags! We have submitted multiple work orders and our maintenance team has treated the areas several times, but the issue still lingers. With the cooler weather, we're hopeful things will improve soon. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this!

- Dressing up is optional
- Ensure your child is comfortable and consider sending a change of clothes if needed.
๐ Dรญa de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)
As the leaves turn and the air gets cooler, something magical happens: millions of butterflies, known as monarchs, begin their long journey south. Did you know that in Mexico, one of the countries where Dรญa de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is celebrated, some people believe these butterflies are the spirits of loved ones returning to visit? The fluttering butterflies remind everyone that love and memories can travel across time and space, bringing joy and comfort during this beautiful celebration of life and remembrance.
Many cultures honor deceased loved ones with a Day of the Dead celebration. In Mexico and other Latin American countries, people celebrate the Day of the Dead, in China people honor the Qingming Festival ๆธ ๆ่, in Guatemala people celebrate the Kite Festival, and in Ireland people celebrate the Samhain Festival. As part of our Science, Social Studies, and History connections, students at ABES will be learning about Dรญa de los Muertos. They may be reading about the monarch butterfly migration, making paper marigolds, or learning about the rich symbolism and history behind this celebration of life with the goal of fostering cultural understanding, promoting empathy, encouraging appreciation for diverse traditions, and allowing students to connect to their own heritage.
โ๏ธ October Coffee Talk with the Principal
Topic: "Empowering Young Upstanders!"
Join us to discuss important topics like bullying and conflict among children. This is a chance to learn how we can empower our children to be upstanders, equipped with problem-solving skills and empathy. Together, parents/guardians, teachers, and our community can build a supportive school culture where every child feels supported and safe. Thank you PTA for the sponsorship! ๐
