Dear Roth families!

As we step into March, we embrace a season of growth—both in nature and within our school community. The days are getting longer, the first signs of spring are emerging, and our students continue to grow in knowledge, confidence, and character.

This time of year is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on progress. Whether it’s academic achievements or social-emotional development, every student has made strides since the start of the school year. Just like the budding trees and blooming flowers, growth doesn’t always happen overnight, but with patience, care, and encouragement, it flourishes.

As we move through the coming weeks and benchmark testing for the upper grades, let’s continue to support and nurture our students—at school and at home. Encourage curiosity, celebrate effort, and remind them that learning is a lifelong journey. Together, we can help them finish the school year strong, ready to take on new challenges with confidence.

Parents, we will be celebrating Read Across America next week. We are having a book character parade on Friday, but it will be a full instructional day with STAAR preparation for the upper grades. We are asking that students do not leave early with their parents on this day and we appreciate your support during this important preparation of students.

Klein ISD will continue using Schoolcafe for lunch accounts.

You will need the following information to sign up for Schoolcafe:

● 6 digit student ID* Skyward includes an “s”. Do not include this when enrolling in SchoolCafe

● Last name of student

● Enrolled campus

Click HERE to find your child’s ID Number and select the Skyward application.

School begins at 8:10 and the tardy bell rings at 8:15. Instruction begins at 8:10 and teachers are not on duty after this time. Students arriving after 8:10 will need to come in through the front doors with a parent. We appreciate your help with making sure all students arrive on time and safely. We encourage you to get your child to school on time every day to avoid missing community circle time and the high quality instruction our teachers provide. Missed minutes add up quickly leading to gaps in learning!

Birthday Snacks KISD permits parents / guardians or grandparents to supply birthday snacks for their child’s birthday through the KISD Food Service Department. Please email our food service manager at mtrejo3@kleinisd.net for more info and a list of items available.

Birthday snacks will be distributed for the entire class at the end of the lunch period, after students have had a nutritious meal as defined by the School Lunch Program and Texas Department of Agriculture.

Written consent from a parent / guardian must be obtained before a student will be permitted to have a birthday treat. (Sent in the 1st day packet.)

Two weeks notice is required for ordering birthday snacks through Klein ISD food service. As always, parents are welcome to eat lunch with their child at the parent table and bring a special treat or lunch for their own personal child.

Please see the map above for arrival and dismissal locations to allow for the flow of traffic and the safety of students as they arrive and leave school. When all follow these guidelines, arrival and dismissal run smoothly and safely.

1. Buses and daycare drop off and pickup in the side lot by the cafeteria.
2. Please use the front entrance for car drop off and pick up. If you need a new tag, please complete the form.

3. Students walking to and from school should use the crosswalks by the bike racks or further down Castlemont at Temple Bell away from vehicle entrances. Students and families should always use a crossing guard and crosswalk. Students should not be walking into the fire lane or across the parking lot, and will be expected to walk entirely off campus to be considered a walker.

4. If you need an extended good-bye please park in the front lot and walk your student to the door using the crosswalk to make certain students are not crossing in unsafe areas.
5. If you are waiting for your walker, please wait outside the fence, as we have many students moving to dismissal locations and cannot allow visitors on the property without signing in. We will walk students off campus to ensure their safety and compliance with crossing safely.

Roth Administration

All visitors must show an id every time they enter campus. The id must be scanned and run through our raptor security system. We appreciate your cooperation with this safety measure.

Roth Elementary is a Great Expectations Model school. This program helps students reach high levels of success, as we incorporate the Great Expectations model into our school culture. As we follow our Klein ISD vision of Promise 2 Purpose, Great Expectations is a perfect way to help ensure every student succeeds. The students will learn and practice the 8 Expectations for Living, displayed throughout the school and in your child’s classroom. The students will also learn valuable Life Principles (Character Traits) that they can use in their daily lives.
