A Note from Mrs. Goldsworthy
We had a great first couple of days, and it was fairly smooth at drop off and carpool. Remind kiddos in the carpool line to get everything in their backpacks and hands as you enter the lot, then be ready to unbuckle and exit the car as soon as you pull up to the safety patrol or person on duty. For north door drop off, remember that students will now tell you good-bye just inside the NW doors, then walk to class on their own (we will have someone on duty along the way to make sure they get to class). Please don't get in a hurry to get in the afternoon carpool line. Enjoy that extra time to yourself instead of parking and waiting in the heat for the gate to open. There is no need to arrive 20 minutes before pick up begins. We will get you through the line quickly!
Students got to try out part of our cool new playground. There are few items the installation company will need to come out and adjust, but it is already so much fun for students! Thank you for all those "Pennies for the Playground" and gala donations the last couple of years. We did it!
I invite you all to attend Back to School Sunday mass at St. Eugene this Sunday at 9:30am. Students are welcome to wear their uniform or a school shirt (family can wear CSSE gear, too). Stay after for breakfast to socialize and celebrate a new school year. Our school families will be hosting breakfast for the parish, so please sign up to bring something if you are able! Middle school students are welcome to help serve (and earn service hours). If you can host by arriving early to check set up, make coffee, then oversee cleanup, please sign up for that first slot. We have breakfast most Sundays after 9:30 mass, and are recruiting groups to host. To volunteer your group, contact breakfast@steugenes.org.
Device Policy Reminder
From the CSSE Handbook...
It is recommended that students leave cell phones and smart devices at home. If a family determines that a child must have a cell phone at school for after school purposes, they must provide the administration with a cell phone/smart device release form that is provided by the school (must be completed yearly). If they bring a cell phone to school, it must be kept in the student’s backpack and turned OFF. Cell phones will be confiscated by teachers or school administration and the student may be given additional consequences if they are used during school hours. This includes texting and social media use. Smart devices with data or wi-fi capabilities like, but not limited to Apple Watches, should be left at home. Items like, but not limited to Gabb Watches, must only be used for telling time - all interactive features must be shut off/blocked by parents/guardians during the school day. Parents should not try to contact students on personal devices during the school day. If it is necessary to get a message to your student during the school day, contact the school office.
***We firmly believe in delaying smart phones as long as possible, and whole-heartedly recommend parents check out the Wait Until 8th movement and take the pledge! There is some great information regularly posted by National Online College and Officer Gomez to help parents make informed decisions about media consumption.***
Volunteer? You Must Complete Safe Environment!
Everyone who works with children at the Catholic School of St. Eugene, including volunteers, is required to complete the Safe Environment protocol. This is a requirement for adults who volunteer in various capacities throughout the school that includes, but is not limited to, all areas of athletics, field trip drivers, tutors, playground and cafeteria volunteers, classroom volunteers, religious educators, substitute teachers, classroom teachers, etc. You must contact Jennifer Goodrich, Safe Environment Facilitator, at safeenvironment@steugenes.org to receive access to the training portal online. Everyone working with our children, including volunteers, must be in full compliance with this requirement. NEW training has been developed by the Archdiocese of OKC. All staff and volunteers must complete new training annually.

Shout Out to PTO!
Our PTO is awesome and supportive! This week they have provided a working lunch for teachers while they prepared for the new school year, organized and provided coffee and breakfast snacks for Tears & Cheers, bought Sonic drinks for the staff, and hosted Popsicles on the Sidewalk (since the Plaza is closed for now). Thank you, PTO!
SchoolStatus Connect
ClassTag, our primary school-to-family communication platform is now SchoolStatus Connect. If you were already a ClassTag user, your account automatically transferred, and your login information should all be the same. We have registered all new families in SchoolStatus Connect for each of their student's classrooms. Please download the SchoolStatus Connect app and turn on push notifications. We try to limit messages sent through SSC, but it is often timely information, and we don't want you to miss it.
If you have not yet received a SSC notification from the school or your student's classroom in either your email address (on file in Renweb) or via SMS, please visit the SchoolStaus Connect website and check for an invitation. If you get a message that says "User credential already confirmed," you should be able to go to the login page and enter that same information to create or recover your account. If you do not have an existing invitation, please email your classroom teacher and have them verify your contact information.
We have had a couple of school families with existing students have difficulty with connecting to a new student. In the past we provided parents with a code for each classroom, but this is no longer a feature. It appears to be a glitch on the SchoolStatus Connect end, and you may need to reach out to their help site.
School Supply Fee
As a reminder, the $125 school supply fee will be billed through FACTS on August 15th.
If your Pre3-K student still needs a Rollee Pollee Nap Mat, we have some available in the school office for $25 cash/check or FACTs charge.
