Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Today we had our first 6th grade Coffee Talk of the year.
I appreciate the parents who were able to make time during their day to attend the meeting. We had a great discussion and were able to meet some of our school support staff. These Talks will happen once a month for our 6th grade parents and we will begin doing quarterly Talks with 7th and 8th grade parents in October.
Next Thursday, September 19, we have our Back to School Night. The schedule for the evening is as follows:
5:30 the Jackson Ensemble is holding dinner/fundraiser.
6:00 we will have a TAG parent meeting in the library.
6:30 there will be a 20 minute information session in the auditorium for parents.
7:00 you will begin rotating through all of your child’s classes.
8:33 the evening will end.
PICKUP/DROP OFF REMINDERS
On a different topic, we need some assistance at the student pickup time in the afternoon. Please remember that we should only have one line to pick up children as we do not want students walking between cars that could begin moving. We should also only be entering through the north entrance and exiting through the south entrance (this goes for the morning drop off as well). If you are waiting, you should only be waiting along the straight stretch of the parking lot closest to the football field. And finally, please do not sit and idle your cars especially with the portables up in the parking lot. Thank you very much for your assistance and cooperation.
A final reminder, Wednesday is school picture day so make sure your child comes with their best smile! More details below.
That is it for this week. Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
John Ferraro
Bullying Concerns
At the start of the school year, we understand that bullying is a major concern for both students and families. Rest assured, we are proactively addressing this issue through several initiatives. These include:
- daily advisory lessons,
- school counselor-led sessions
- collaboration with our student leadership team to foster a more inclusive environment.
If students or families need to report an incident, they can do so in the office using a student incident report or anonymously through SafeOregon.

Volunteer Coaches Needed
Hello! We have had two successful years of OBOB at Jackson. I would love to continue the streak. I am a parent of a student who completed 3 years at Jackson. I’m looking for other parents to help out. I have developed tools to help organize (sign ups), advertise, and run practice battles. I’m looking for parents willing to help show up, maybe help run mock battles or help spread the word with the students and faculty at Jackson. -David F., OBOB@jacksonpta.org
For more information on OBOB, check out the website at https://www.oregonbattleofthebooks.org/.
