ALL GRHS STAFF AND STUDENTS MUST BE PROPERLY WEARING A MASK AT ALL TIMES IN THE BUILDING (EVEN IN THE CAFE - UNLESS EATING DURING LUNCH - AND STILL MUST BE SOCIALLY DISTANCED by sitting 4 per table). Students refusing to wear their mask will face consequences.
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
I can see the 6th six weeks finish line...it's time to FINISH STRONG!
Seniors and Senior parents please be checking your LCISD email at least twice a week for emails from me, this last six weeks is going to fly by and there are deadlines that you will NOT want to miss! Two emails went out this past week!
SAT TESTING is TUESDAY -April 13th- which means we will be having virtual students on campus-so parking FOR THIS DAY ONLY will be first come first serve! If someone is in your spot, just park in the next open spot. Thanks for your flexibility again!
PTO Still Needs Your Help for Staff Appreciation Week!
Staff appreciation is coming up the first week of May and our amazing PTO is wanting to plan a couple of treats for our hard working staff so they REALLY need your help! They are working on raising enough funds to treat our GIANT staff (of 210 people) with a breakfast and lunch during this week, but are needing a little help from our supportive Longhorn parents to MAKE IT HAPPEN! If you would be so kind and willing to donate we would be so appreciative. This year has definitely been a challenge for everyone, so any little perk completely makes our day! Donations can be big or small...we TRULY appreciate it (and YOU) all! Thanks for helping our PTO spread the longhorn love for the final stretch!
There are two ways to donate.
- PayPal: Here is the PTO 's email grhspto@gmail.com. Just go to PayPal and use this PTO email to donate!
- PTO member already? Use this link to donate: https://www.myvlink.org/georgeranchpto/donations1.php?c=319
Lamar CISD is NOT adjusting any of its COVID-19 inside safety protocols, including the requirement to wear face coverings INSIDE all facilities. Keep being smart and stay safe by adhering to the face to face expectations by properly wearing those masks, sanitizing regularly, and following social distancing protocols to the best of our ability. We can't completely control COVID, but we can definitely slow the spread down, and that is A LOT! Any student refusing to follow the rules will be given disciplinary consequences, which will in turn affect their semester exam exemptions. Let's all do our part to keep GR the PLACE to be... especially for those of us CHOOSING to stay face to face.
Thank you so much to all our parents and students reaching out to your Assistant Principal for questions and assistance. Please CONTINUE to email your (or your student's) Assistant Principal , as they can assist you the quickest.

Dress Code - YES, it still matters!
As it is getting warmer outside and I am seeing more shorts, skirts, and crop tops. I feel I am VERY generous, so please adhere to the few rules that I have. (I have included the visual again, just in case you needed a reminder). You may not like the rules, but they are still rules I appreciate you respecting them, as they are non-negotiable. Thanks for your support!
- T-shirts cannot cover your shorts, or that means your shorts are too short.
- Shorts and skirts should be at least 3-4 inches from your inseam (remember you are going up and down stairs)
- There should be NO mid drift skin showing between the BOTTOM of your shirt and TOP of your pant/short. Example: If you lift your arm to wave to someone and any skin shows, it's too short because the second you sit down at a desk it will be showing skin when you lean over to write.

TRACK!
BOYS TRACK! Check out @GRHSBOYSTRACK on Twitter for ALL the pics!
On Thursday April 1st, the Freshman boy’s were given the opportunity to participate in a mini meet amongst 4 of the district teams to test their training against students in the same grade for the first and last time this season. Out of 5 teams, the Freshman boys were able to take second place, showing just how bright the future is for the boys track and field team. With just a few boys being able to make it: great throws, jumps, and races were had.
Liam Ramirez finished in the top six in both the discus and shot put. Dylan Smith would win the Long Jump, while great races were had by Felipe Martinez and Samir Elerian in the 800 (first and 4th resoectively) and Adrian Falkquay and Leo Garza in the hurdles. Rounding out the meet with top 3 finishes in all three relays, the boys wrap up their season thankful for the opportunity to have one, especially with last year being cut.
20-6A District Champs!
The boys varsity track and field team participated in the 3 day district track meet last week. On day 1, Jacob Curtis took 2nd in the 3200, advancing himself to the area meet. On day 2, during the field events; in the throws, Feldon Barlow placed 6th in the shot put, while Ryan Hall solidified his spots in the area meet by taking second place finishes in both the discus and shot put. In the jumps, all three high jumpers scored (Chukwubi Uchenna-6th place, Kyjah Savery-4th place to advance to area, and Shane Gardner-1st place also advancing to area). In the long jump, Henry Chukwu placed 4th to advance to the area meet. Stephen Woods and Kyle Kiser would score points in the triple jump placing 5th and 6th respectively. While in the Pole Vault, Luke Ingelmo placed 3rd to book his spot in the area meet. In the final day, the boys dominated. In the 800, Jacob Curtis and Cameron Chretien would solidify their spots for the area meet by taking 2nd and 4th respectively. In the 110m hurdles, Ife Famogun took 3rd, while Shane Gardner took another 1st place victory. In the 100m dash, all three Longhorn participants scored points. With Daniel Ejim placing 6th, Davion Jenkins taking 4th, and Jeffery Ugo becoming the district champion; both Davion and Jeffery solidified their spots to the area meet. In the 400m dash, Mason Franklin took 5th, Cameron Chretien took 4th, and Grant Celestine was 1st becoming the district champion. In the 300m hurdles, all three Longhorn athletes will be advancing to the area meet. With 4th, 2nd, and 1st place finishes were: Ife Famogun, Shane Gardner, and Bryce McCray respectively. Kyjah Savery would run a phenomenal race to become the district 200m dash Champion, and the race was won in tremendous fashion. So as the meet was coming to a close, Jacob Curtis and Forrest Anciso added to the point total with 2nd and 6th place finishes in the 1600m run. The boys, during the final event, would dominate the 4x4 to end the meet. The dominance that was seen could not have been more obvious than in the relays. The Longhorn relay teams would win the 4x1, 4x2, and 4x4. With such dominance, the boys came out on top as district champs, with quite a few individuals placing in the top four to advance to the area meet. Congrats to the young men and coaches on their hard work! And good luck at Area!
