March update!
March 5, 2025: A newsletter for Pine Ridge Families
📣 Families! Here's What's Happening:
This is a quick update with some important upcoming dates and information. This is an exciting time for our school. We have recently been acknowledged by our district for our amazing growth in both ELA and Math---above the State average for growth. This is due to all of our teachers' and students' hard work, and very good news for our school. Thank you for making attendance at school a priority---if students aren't regularly in class, it makes it harder to learn!
We also would like our families to know that report cards are being sent home this Friday with your student---so be on the lookout.
There are some important dates listed below----some student free days due to our "snow days" that are embedded into our calendar, and so when we don't need them, they become days off from school. We also have a districtwide training coming up, again, a student free day, but this allows for our staff to come together for professional growth opportunities so as to be better together for your child!
I would like to close in announcing my retirement at the end of this school year. Some of you are already aware as I have started having some personal conversations, and word is beginning to get out, so I would like to share that it has been a privilege to serve as your child's Principal for the past three years and serve the community in which I live and in which I raised my own two children. I have been in education for almost 40 years, as a classroom teacher, and an administrator at both the district and school site level, and it is time that I hang up my hat and ease into my retirement days. I can happily say that these last years at Pine Ridge School have been so very rewarding to me and the relationships with staff, parents, and students have brought me so much joy. The interview process is already in the works to find a replacement to serve as Principal for the 25-26 school year.
Again, thank you for your support, and I'll see you at the afternoon crosswalk until the end of the school year.
Sincerely,
Kathy Thomas
Proud Principal of PRS
