Florence Twp. School District 2023-2024
WHAT'S HAPPENING
As we kick off 2025, please remember these important reminders:
KEEP CHILDREN HOME IF TERRIBLY SICK
Please keep your children home if they are displaying symptoms of severe sickness such as fever, vomiting, body aches or other spreadable illnesses.
In an effort to always keep our students safe and healthy, we are encouraging increased attentiveness to personal hygienic practices and urging staff and students to remain at home if feeling ill or displaying symptoms. We are seeing a slight increase in illnesses this winter and we are simply reaching out to be proactive to keep ALL our Flashes families healthy this season! PLEASE NOTE: Letters sent home regarding your child's sick days are automatically generated by Genesis and there may be a slight time lapse between when you send in your doctor's note and when we can adjust the system. Questions and concerns can be directed to any of our school nurses at any time.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS - CALL OUT YOUR CHILD:
If your child will be LATE, SICK OR STAYING HOME FOR ANY REASON...don't forget to CALL THE SCHOOL MAIN OFFICE #. Press #1 for the attendance line and leave a message by 8 am. Leave the child's name and reason for absence. You can also text the Attendance Officer at 609.374.4838. Please remember to call them out each time they will be late or absent!
Students should be IN their homerooms BEFORE the times listed below - not entering the door! Your child will be marked tardy if they arrive after these times:
FTMHS -- 7:40 am to 2:05 pm
Riverfront -- 7:55 am to 2:28 pm
Roebling Elementary -- 8:20 am to 2:50 pm
WINTER WEATHER REMINDER
Dress Warm: Please be sure your child has dressed appropriately for cold and snow. It can be cold standing at a bus stop or walking to school, and we always recommend that students wear hats, gloves, coats, and boots, or sturdy winter shoes.
Delayed Openings: Although delayed openings may not be convenient, this option can be used to avoid school cancellations. If the District calls a delayed start, please check the School Websites, Social Media, Class Dojo or School Messenger for adjusted arrival times: Some things to know about a 2-hour delayed opening:
• Buses will pick up students 2 hours later than their typical bus stop schedule.
• Schools will start 2 hours later than their typical schedule.
• Class periods will be shortened throughout the day.
• Schools will dismiss at their regular dismissal times.
• Buses will drop off students at their regular drop-off times.
School Delays/Closings: If school is closed due to snow or any condition, parents/guardians will be notified via our automated system and information will also be posted on all school social media pages, the district website, and class dojo. It is very important that you update your contact information on your child’s Genesis account if needed. The District will also notify local media outlets, but cannot guarantee if or how the media will report the information provided. Below is a snapshot of our delayed opening times for you to keep handy!
