Dear Parents,

Welcome to the April edition of our middle school newsletter! As we gear up for the state testing period, we want to extend a message of encouragement to both you and your children. Your support plays a crucial role in their success, so let's rally together to help them approach these assessments with confidence and determination.

We also want to remind you that our school will be closed on Monday, April 8th due to the solar eclipse.

We will begin state testing on April 10th and 11th, taking the OST English Language Arts assessments. Please avoid student absences on assessment days. If your student must be absent please submit a pre-planned absence form prior to their scheduled absence. The pre-planned absence form can be found here.

With state testing coming up, please note that your student’s iPads iOS needs to be on 17.1 or higher (Not 17.0). OST testing will not work on a students iPad if they are on 17.0 (most students should not be at this point) but it's a good idea to check in with your student about this and ensure their iPad is on 17.1 or higher.

Please be aware that there is no school on Monday, April 8, 2024 (school calendar). Even though school is not in session during the Ohio total solar eclipse, we sent one pair of solar eclipse glasses home prior to spring break in case you want to supervise your child’s participation in viewing the eclipse. The glasses have the ISO transmission requirements printed on them for your review before deciding on their use.

Bus Riders

Parents please make sure you have your student standing at the bus stop 5 minutes prior to their school bus arrival time. Students should not be waiting in cars when the school bus arrives at the stop, they should be at the bus stop & ready to load. As always, please make sure you and your student check for on-coming traffic before stepping out of your vehicle.

Car Riders

Parents, please pull up as far as possible to allow for the flow of traffic and do not block the crosswalk. You may pass a vehicle once you have passed the crosswalk. When dropping off, students should be ready to exit their vehicles.

NAMS Spring Dance - Sports Jam

Friday, April 12, 7-9pm

Middle School Gymnasium

New Albany Middle School students are invited to join us for a fun Sports Jam themed dance! Admission is $5 (cash only) and can be purchased during lunch times on 4/10, 4/11 and 4/12 or at the door. Kona Ice, Hot Dogs, Nachos, Popcorn and Chips, along with Game Time Swag, can be purchased at the dance ($1-$3 each, cash only).

NAMS students only. Friendly reminder to wear tennis shoes only on gym floor, food should remain in the cafeteria and school behavior is expected.

Become a chaperone:

We are looking for 50 parents who would like to help our event run smoothly by volunteering to chaperone. You will arrive at 6:15pm to help set up and find what station/area you will be in charge of. Sign up HERE.

Donate items:

If you would like to help us create a fun atmosphere for the dance, purchase items to donate from our wishlist HERE.

Double check the shipping address at checkout to ensure items are shipped to NAMS PTO and save yourself a trip. Please deliver all items by April 5.
