Picture Day Retakes - October 30th
Picture ticket codes and packages were sent home with students this week. There are instructions on the ticket code flyers on how to order pictures online. Picture retake day is Wednesday, October 30th. If your child was absent on picture day in September, they will have their picture taken on Wednesday. If you would like your child's picture retaken, please have them tell their teacher and bring their picture package with so Color Portraits can replace it with the new image.
October "Lights Out" Celebration - Friday, November 1st.
Our October PAWS initiative will include a “Lights out! Celebration” on Friday November 1st. Classroom teachers will plan for a “lights out” activity (can be reading, craft, etc.) at their discretion. Students are invited to bring glow sticks or flashlights from home to support the "lights out" activity. Your classroom teacher will provide more details about what to bring on Friday.
Wildcats Give Back - Food Drive
We're gearing up for our first Wildcats Give Back Initiative of the school year! The Wildcats Give Back Committee in partnership with the Washington Student Council is sponsoring a food drive benefiting the Maine Township Food Pantry.
We will be collecting food and self-care items to donate to the Maine Township Food Pantry. Items will be collected in each classroom all week, from Monday, November 11th through the morning of Friday, November 15th!
Celebrating Red Ribbon Week - October 23 - 31
Students across the country are celebrating Red Ribbon Week 2024 – this year’s theme is: Life Is A Movie, Film Drug Free. At school, students are engaging in activities that promote a drug free and healthy lifestyle. Please partner with us and discuss this message at home, at the dinner table, at family outings, and with friends and extended family.
In celebration of Red Ribbon Week, students are invited to wear red on Wednesday, October 30th to demonstrate their commitment to healthy life choices.
Halloween at Washington
Teachers and Room Parents have been coordinating to plan our Halloween celebrations this year. Our Halloween parties will take place in the afternoon of Thursday, October 31st. All half-day kindergarten students are invited to attend the classroom celebrations that day. More information will be shared soon.
Please see below for the Halloween costume guidelines:
Students will come to school in costume. (Students may wear a Halloween mask during the parade only)
Children should not bring any food or candy to share.
At 3:15 pm, the parade will begin. Students will exit from Door 12b on the north side of the building and head south down Western Avenue. The parade will end at the main entrance of the school. Parents are invited to line near the sidewalk on Western to cheer on students.
All children will parade slowly, so there will be plenty of opportunities for pictures and videos.
Please remember to help your child make safe and respectful decisions about his/her costume. Students may wear a mask in the parade but not during school.
